These Violent Delights (Robin) Do you have any habits while reading a book that you just can't help yourself from committing? Please tell us here!

If I'm reading a really slow paced book and/or it's really boring me, I find myself reading the last page of the book, just to see how it ends.

I really want to get into the habit of sticky noting pages of books that I find interesting or special or I just down right adore. Do you sticky note?

Sticky noting sounds like a useful habit, especially if you plan on writing a proper review after reading. It also doesn't damage the book! I should really start doing that...

I don't know if this is a reading habit, but I sometimes unwillingly try making the same face the character was described making in the book, so I sometimes look weird while I read lol
Am I the only one who does this, or...?

These Violent Delights (Robin) I make faces sometimes while reading a book too, but it's not to copy a characters face, I usually make faces when I'm disgusted or I'm crying.

@Robin I do that, too! I find myself scrunching up my face a lot of times now because I'm reading Marked and there's a lot of stuff in there that makes me cringe...

These Violent Delights (Robin) Marked as in book 1 in the House Of Night series by P.C. Cast or another book called Marked?

Juliet | 245 comments Sometimes I whisper to the book. >_< As if it hear can me. (Some examples: Are you kidding me? What! NO! Aw... This can not be happening!)

Once, I screamed "NOOOOOOOOO!" and threw the book across my room. That book was Allegiant.

I had to force myself to finish that book. After reading (view spoiler) all I wanted to do was curl up in a ball and cry for the rest of my life.

message 12: by Juliet (new)

Juliet | 245 comments I couldn't really sleep that night. I just lay in bed (view spoiler) And I just can't wait till I sob my eyes out in like three years during Allgiant part 2 :P

These Violent Delights (Robin) I know!! I bet the movie theaters will be filled with crying people during the showing of Allegiant pt2... Did you know that they cut out Uriah from the Divergent movie and now they have him cast in Insurgent? (view spoiler)

message 14: by Juliet (new)

Juliet | 245 comments I'm kind of glad Uriah is in the movies because he has a big role in Allegiant (view spoiler) What I want to know is who the **** is Edgar?? I saw him cast and was beyond confused. There is no Edgar in Divergent. Then I read somewhere that he will be part of a love triangle with Tris! >:( I don't hate love triangles, but I don't really like them either! I don't want a love triangle! (plus who could compete with Tobias? Like, really?)

I tend to read the book aloud and add little comments like, "he should not have done that", and "You are not a nice person" ect.

These Violent Delights (Robin) You've got a point with Uriah. And, really? Edgar? What the heck. This story doesn't need a love triangle. I liked the story the way it was, minus the many many deaths of course... ugh directors always change the books up.

message 17: by Juliet (new)

Juliet | 245 comments Yeah I agree, but I still love him. xD

message 21: by Juliet (new)

Juliet | 245 comments ok reading habits... I know i'm the only other person in the world that does this. (other than my dad) Whenever I have to turn a page, I have to lick my fingers first. I know it's like kinda gross and weird. >_< It's like my worst habit.

I have a habit of just zoning out when reading and a habit of laughing out if something was funny or gasp if something happens(:

message 26: by Juliet (new)

Juliet | 245 comments I do that too xD Then I come to my senses and I have to read the whole page over again

Haha yeah! But I also have a habit of zoning in on books and zoning out of the world!

message 28: by Juliet (new)

Juliet | 245 comments That too! When I get absorbed in a book, I ignore everything else.

I get really crabby when people try to interrupt me when reading. Especially if I'm towards the end of a good book...

Please love yourself and DO NOT read it. You will just want to throw it out the window and let a car run over it. And maybe spend a whole week reading old classics to gain back your brain cells.

Haha I have a lot of rules about reading my books too! My sister thinks I'm crazy because I always watch her read the books I own and then come over and correct her way of holding the book or something. Hey, paperbacks are hard to maintain in good condition!

message 35: by Abubakar (new)

Abubakar Mehdi i like to read more than one book at a time (though that is not always possible).
and i write the starting and ending date of my reading on the first page of the book.

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

Cool, I read like five books at a time

Haha I can only read like 3 books at once or I get so stressed with it all I stop reading!! Yeah I always take a book wherever I go and keep books places in the house also(:

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

When the author describes a character making a face like 'her faced twisted into a sour grimace', I try to copy it, regardless of where I am...I look like a psycho...

message 47: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Scott I can't read in silence, I always have to have music playing (Walk Off the Earth is a personal reading favourite)

Ashley (ashleywillis) | 32 comments I'm disabled so I can only read when I'm relaxed, stretched out in my bed.I just turn off my TV & read for hours. I actually read the twilight series again in 1 day

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

Read too many books at once. And I have a very good memory, so I can remember passages from books or facts about the book, even if I read the book a long time ago. I can also do it with movies. I going around all the time saying movie quotes!

message 50: by Laura (new)

Laura J | 2 comments I like to flip to the last page of a book before even starting and read section by section. I also zone out if the book is slow moving/ dull. I always love to read in a rhythm to get through those parts
