Keith (kgf0) | 373 comments /help/show/2... already indicates that, "All publication dates must follow the Gregorian or Julian calendar."

It may help our Farsi Librarians if this were edited to add the note "لطفاً به جای تاریخ شمسی، از تاریخ میلادی برای سال چاپ کتا‌ب‌ه استفاده کنید. استفاده از تاریخ شمسی ترتیب اولین سال انتشار را در سیستم به هم می‌ریز. " from /topic/show/...

Both notes might be profitably added to the Original Publication Date page as well.

The Librarian Manual is in English. We have no current plans to change that.

Keith (kgf0) | 373 comments We could still add the relevant English to the OPD page, though, without violating this particular hobgoblin.

Arenda | 26403 comments There was a time the original date was taken automatically from the oldest edition. When one edition has a Persian date, that would be the oldest edition. This makes the need for your suggested change not as relevant as it might seem.

I believe the original publication date now always has to be entered manually.
