Shanna What's the deal with the universe? We don't know YET, but someday we will. The limits of human knowledge are continuously expanding. As this book describes the path of discovery in the fields of physics and astronomy, it is very interesting to see how humanity's understanding of everything from the microcosmic to the macrocosmic has expanded and deepened. It seems every discovery leads to more questions. Though the lazy answer might be "because god", that answer is not good enough for the rational thinker. The curious and tenacious will keep exploring, observing, testing. Someday, the scientifically-verifiable answers will be found. That is, if we manage not to obliterate ourselves first.

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) I finished this a couple days ago. The last few chapters were pretty far out there and I got lost a few times, although I managed to hang on to the main ideas (I think). The scientist bios at the end were a nice touch. Galileo in particular seemed like an interesting guy.
