It's been a lot more common just lately, but in any case I think we are probably overdue to start collecting the loopy names we encounter reading TC in one central place. Because as the Gemini Killer, played by Brad Dourif in EXORCIST III, once said, it's the smiles that get us through.

So here goes:

I stumbled across a photo of a pretty woman on Pinterest. It said her name was Girly Chew, of all things. There was no explanation of who she was so I Googled her, and sure enough, someone had killed her.

Oh, I know about Girly Chew!

Is there a book about her?

I just learned, reading about Shelly Brooks, the name of the Detroit police chief at the time of his arrest: Ella Bully. Considering all the news lately about police brutality, that seems very timely. But it's not as funny as the name of the WAYNE County sheriff, Benny Napoleon.

"Shelly" is actually a pretty amusing name for a massively-built 6'5" male serial killer who bashes women's heads in related to his cocaine-fueled rage against the opposite sex.

Boontem Anderson's name -- half Scandahoovian, half Native American -- merely puzzles me, but I love the name of another serial-killer victim of similar extraction, Sharon Kills Back. If only she could!

Lacheke Grandberry is an unusual name, but the name of her killer -- David WAYNE McCall -- fits the mandatory naming guidelines for murderers in the USA.

The name Algy Shearwater popped up in Ian Brady: The untold story of the Moors Murders. Imagine going through middle school with that name. Hi, my first name is an aquatic plant and my last name is an aquatic bird!

On another message board we were discussing the young woman who was being treated in ER after a car accident when someone saw that she's been shot in the neck. That led me to look up Raulie WAYNE Casteel, the I-96 shooter, to add him to the discussion and I saw a great cop name associated with the case: Gene Wriggelsworth.

That's the name of a guy who had to go into law enforcement and carry a gun, purely because of having to grow up with the name Wriggelsworth.
