Since, I'm not finishing my current book in time for another challenge my current book fits it too

You're already reading it? if so, it can't be used

Only books read during the challenge count.

Diane ~Firefly~ | 2428 comments I'm leaning towards On Thin Icing for my first book. It has an O, a B and an E, plus may count for bones on cover (has skull decoration).

On Thin Icing (A Bakeshop Mystery, #3) by Ellie Alexander

message 156: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments oh yeah, that sounds about right :D

message 157: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I already have Nightshades & Switchback on my kindle. Those can go for O and N (series name) and also S (title).

I also have Where Death Meets the Devil that can be used for E and B and have bones on the text (Plus I had it as a netgalley arc and need to cross it from my list)

So yeah, I'm all set. Now, how to make clock tick faster.... uhmmm

message 160: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments To avoid books getting lost in the chatter, we now have a Books Read thread.

You can use the thread. Or the planning spreadsheet. Or both. Just let us know the following info:

COMPLETION POST

S: Spider Bones
Date Read: 27/10
Num Pages:384

Alternative letters: B (Temperance Brennan)

Word in text: "I would clean the bones and do a skeletal analysis."
Word in title/series name: Yes
Word on the cover: Yes
Word as book genre: Yes

message 161: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganraex) | 1031 comments pfft spiders don't have bones. That's silly.

message 162: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments LOL

I think there is a spidery type of fracture? My forensic tv shows are failing me... but maybe is in that sense?

message 163: by [deleted user] (new)

My book that I started but haven't finished will count. I'm hoping to have it done Sunday night

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Slytherpuff wrote: "My book that I started but haven't finished will count. I'm hoping to have it done Sunday night"

No it won't.

Books need to be started AFTER the challenge has started. Which is in 5 hours.

The book you are currently reading can't be used.

Claire | 4223 comments I finally finished A Feast for Crows !!! Hooray !!!
It wasn't the best of the series. Half of the characters were missing. No Tyrion! What's up with that?! How is it possible to have a Game of Thrones book without Tyrion in it!?

Yes I agree, I hate that the characters were split up between 2 books! The next one is AMAZING

that's a relief. I was so disappointed in this one. (again, no Tyrion?! I can't accept that!) It didn't really make me look forward to an even larger book... '-_-

message 168: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganraex) | 1031 comments Yeah I think most fans of the series will admit that Feast for Crows is definitely a bit meh compared to the rest of them!

message 169: by [deleted user] (new)

I thought it started on the 27th. Also, I thought I saw something about being able to finish the book the next week. I thought that meant I could finish a book started before

message 170: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 7869 comments Sorry Slytherpuff. If you don't finish a book that you start in the first week, you can finish it in a later week, but all books for this challenge must be started after the start of the game.

message 171: by Claire (new)

Claire | 4223 comments @slytherpuff the rule you're referring to just states that for instance a book that is not finished in week 1 can be used in week 2, or even in a later week. As long as it is started during the challenge.

message 172: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganraex) | 1031 comments Only 3 more hours until the challenge starts though! It will be 10pm here but the clocks are going back so that's an extra hour for reading ;)

message 173: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 7869 comments This is the weekend the clocks change? We don't do it in AZ, but now I have to keep track of the time for friends and family who live east of me. Good to know. Also, football start times change. Also good to know.

message 177: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 7869 comments Alright team Sally! About a half hour to go before we can start reading!!!!

Anyone want to go for a mini challenge with me to see how many books we can read in a weekend?

message 178: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you. It’s hard for me to keep all challenges straight

I will, though my weekend is half over already :(

message 180: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3722 comments We’re having crazy storms today with wind and rain. Some roads were already closed this morning when Hubby and I went out.

Since I couldn’t read all day, I got all those boring things done around the house that I didn’t really want to do. So excited to start a book momentarily!

Claire | 4223 comments Sonia wrote: "IT HAZ BEGUN!!!!!

Yessss!!!! Now, what should I start with ? :D
I have a few options. I have to read both These Rebel Waves (Stream Raiders, #1) by Sara Raasch and New Finnish Grammar by Diego Marani for my bookclubs. But I'm also dying to read Muse of Nightmares (Strange the Dreamer, #2) by Laini Taylor , and Kingdom of Ash (Throne of Glass, #7) by Sarah J. Maas . But before reading that last one, I'd need to read the chaol book, Tower of Dawn (Throne of Glass, #6) by Sarah J. Maas ... All these options ! what should I do? haha

message 184: by [deleted user] (new)

I think I'm going to start with Déjà Dead (Temperance Brennan, #1) by Kathy Reichs

message 185: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 7869 comments I made a stack of books that I can use for BONES. I just grabbed one off the top. Turned out to be Exit Strategy (The Murderbot Diaries, #4) by Martha Wells . Short, first few pages are good, should be quick and enjoyable! good way to start a challenge!

I read that at the beginning of the month. I really liked it. Must be my favorite in this little series of novellas :)

message 187: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3722 comments I need to read Muse of Nightmares soon!

I’m starting with Queen of Shadows because I need to catch up on this series. So far I’m liking it more than the previous one!

message 188: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I ended up picking Nightshades (Nightshades, #1) by Melissa F. Olson with the intention of reading for an hour. It is now 1AM and I finished it.

Will update stuff tomorrow. I need some sleep

message 189: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 7869 comments Just finished my first!

Sleep well Sonia.

message 190: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Thanks Jenny. The book ends in a cliffhanger. I am not happy.

message 191: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 7869 comments I hope you have the next book ready to go. Surely there will be a character with a name that fits the task!

message 192: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments It's an O author. And yes, it has E character and the second starts with a S. Plus the N from series name.

And I'm trying to convince me to sleep instead of picking second up.

Lol

message 193: by Camilla (new)

Camilla | 1885 comments I will finish my current audio today, after which I'll start with Siipien kantamat, don't know yet whether it will work for anything else than S.

message 194: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 7869 comments Cool. Don't worry if it only works for one letter, we will make it fit.

message 195: by Lauriie (new)

Lauriie | 111 comments After a hackathon friday and saturday I slept for the last 14 hours and now started reading Outcome which works for the O and one of character is named Remy Stahl which would also work for the S.

message 196: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Good Morning Team!!!

I'm getting ready to leave the house, so no more reading till later tonight.

Balance so far:

Two letters spelled, and 1 Bonus: word in the text

Happy Sunday!!!!

message 197: by Claire (new)

Claire | 4223 comments that's a good start !
I just finished a book myself. New Finnish Grammar can be used for either N or O. It also had the word bone in the text but it has already been taken. well, that's alright. Now I'm going to read some of Muse of Nightmares :)

message 198: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganraex) | 1031 comments Just finished a book that was started before the challenge so now time to properly get reading!
I'm going to start with Not Even Bones (Market of Monsters, #1) by Rebecca Schaeffer

message 199: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 7869 comments Morning all!
