Carrie (boombaby13) | 319 comments I did a tentative list for myself on the second skeleton on the spreadsheet. I may switch one or two before next weekend but I'll definitely get the whole word read once the challenge starts though. :)

message 102: by Nicole (new)

Nicole P | 1834 comments I claimed the letter T for the first round and added my book to the spreadsheet :)

message 103: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments Great - thank you everyone!

I can fill the E and Word in Text if we need it. I'm leaving it blank in case someone else has a book to fill it.

message 104: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments 5 more days till the challenge starts! I feel like that time went by so fast lol

message 105: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Barstad (maidenoflight) It feels like it's taking forever to me!

message 106: by Sunny (new)

Sunny (sunnyisreading) | 340 comments This whole month flew right past me if I'm honest.

Melitta Jackson (themidnightlibrarian) | 74 comments Biting at the bit to listen to Emma in the Night...

I go back and forth about October either feeling too long or too short. Depends on the day.

Melitta Jackson (themidnightlibrarian) | 74 comments Was there any rules about anthologies? I looked briefly but didn't find anything. trying to figure out how we would count it if there were multiple authors, or if we would try to go with an anthology that fit in the category with it's title.

I haven't looked into it in any of mine yet but with a few mysteries scheduled there's always the chance.

message 110: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments Usually with an Anthology if you read the entire book all the authors would count. I'll double check though.

Does anyone want to read a book that covers the MPG? the links are in one of the first posts. If not I'll see what I can grab.

message 111: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments Found the answer for you Melitta:

Where there are multiple authors, can they be used?
A: If attributed on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ, then yes. For example, Eternity's Wheel. Where it is a book with a collection of stories and Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ shows one author as the "editor", then you can only use the editor. (e.g. Dog is My Co-Pilot: Great Writers on the World's Oldest Friendship)

message 112: by Rina (new)

Rina | 663 comments I thought I have seen rules about page numbers somewhere, but I can't find it now.

For the ebooks, do we use the page number of our read edition?
And for the audiobooks do we use the page number of the default edition?

message 113: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments Yes - For the ebooks you use page number for the edition read. For the audiobooks you use page number of the default edition unless the default edition is the large print edition.

message 114: by Rina (new)

Rina | 663 comments Thank you, Melissa!

message 115: by Sunny (new)

Sunny (sunnyisreading) | 340 comments Guys, theres only 3 more days left! :D

message 116: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments So Excited!

Can everyone post here what they will be reading first and how it fits? I would like everyone to check in again since we begin in 2 days and 8 hours!!!! :D

I"ll be reading Skeletons at the Feast

message 117: by Sunny (new)

Sunny (sunnyisreading) | 340 comments I will most likely start off with Legend (it matches by first letter of the title)!

message 118: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (boombaby13) | 319 comments I honestly don't know yet what I'll be starting with. It depends on what I get done between now and the official start time for this challenge and my mood when we get there. LOL

message 119: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments What does MGP stand for?

My plan is to start with The Exercise of Vital Powers (Legends of the Order, #1) by Ian Gregoire because it's a review copy, so I thought I need to get it out of the way.

message 120: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (boombaby13) | 319 comments Anita Reads wrote: "What does MGP stand for?

Main genre page... or I actually think it's more MPG or main page genre. In other words in the top tags for the book.

message 121: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments Uhm okay. I looked up Skeleton and Closet on GR genres, and then chose most popular in both, and even Skulduggery Pleasant (which topped the list) was only tagged Skeleton 9 times. With Closet the most popular had been tagged 5 times as Closet and I'm pretty sure it will be on one of the last genre pages on both occasions.

message 122: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments Yea we have a tough word for MPG this week. I'll try and see if I can find something but we might have to let that one go if we can't.

message 123: by Melitta (new)

Melitta Jackson (themidnightlibrarian) | 74 comments For right now my first read is Emma in the Dark, for an E.

message 124: by Nicole (new)

Nicole P | 1834 comments I'll be reading Two Brutes, One Barista.

Also by happenstance, another book I'm reading now has the word skeletons in it and can also be used for the letter L.

message 125: by Sunny (new)

Sunny (sunnyisreading) | 340 comments Nicole, unfortunately only books that you started during the challenge (aka after the challenge has already started) count. :/

message 126: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (boombaby13) | 319 comments We have just over 2 hours to go, correct?

Plan on getting caught up on my reviews in that time then starting with a clean slate with Murder by the Book (Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery, #1) by Lauren Elliott .

message 127: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Barstad (maidenoflight) I just looked and the book i am going to be reading has skeleton in the text.

message 128: by Sunny (new)

Sunny (sunnyisreading) | 340 comments Just 19 minutes to go! Also, as said previously, mods are warning that books started and/or finished before the challenge actually starts cannot be used :)

message 129: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (boombaby13) | 319 comments Question for the captains....

Since I have all my books on the second Skeleton on the spreadsheet and I may be reading the same letter/s that others are should I hold off posting when completed or go ahead and post on the other thread?

message 130: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments go ahead and post when completed. We'll fill in your books where they fit as you finish them.

message 131: by Nicole (new)

Nicole P | 1834 comments I did put my book on the spreadsheet so not sure if I'm suppose to do the completion post as well? I did it just in case.

message 132: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments yes, all books need to have a completion post, just adding them to the tracking spreadsheet isn't enough. i need to be sure they are completed so I can add them to the main spreadsheet.

Thanks!!

message 133: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (boombaby13) | 319 comments Week 2 words were posted... Shock TRICK-OR-TREAT

message 134: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments We'll have to dig a little deeper for this one LOL. For the cover here are some examples:

Trick or Treat Murder (A Lucy Stone Mystery, #3) by Leslie Meier
Trick or Treat A History of Halloween by Lisa Morton

There's plenty of books with it in the title so that shouldn't be too difficult to find!

message 135: by Rina (new)

Rina | 663 comments I'll read Trick or Treat (Kat Parker #7) by K.L. Phelps , I am not sure if it works for the cover, but it will work for the title.

message 136: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments Great thanks Rina! You can't finish until Week 2 if we want to use for Week 2 - just a reminder :)

message 137: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments We're about half way through - how's everyones reading going?!?!

I'm enjoying my book Skeletons at the Feast. It's pretty interesting to read a WW2 book from a German native POV. I've never done that before. Such a gruesome and awful time in our history. :(

I started A Darker Shade of Magic as well which would work for K if we need it.

message 138: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments I've updated the initial posts but here is the countdown for the end of week 1 and the start of week 2

message 139: by Sunny (new)

Sunny (sunnyisreading) | 340 comments I'm back from a trip so I've started reading Legend already! :)

message 140: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments I am a little over half way with
An Unkindness of Ghosts by Rivers Solomon by Rivers Solomon

It can definitely work for S.
I'll have to remember to check for character names if it fits somewhere else as well.

I'm also reading: The Exercise of Vital Powers (Legends of the Order, #1) by Ian Gregoire

Can work for one of the Es. I'm a third of the way through it.

message 141: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments Great!!!!

message 142: by Rina (last edited Oct 30, 2018 01:32PM) (new)

Rina | 663 comments I am currently reading In Pursuit of Eliza Cynster (Cynster, #17; The Cynster Sisters Trilogy, #2) by Stephanie Laurens , I think I'll finish it tomorrow or on Thursday.
I am also hearing to Die Totentänzerin by Max Bentow , but I only listen to audiobooks while walking with the dog and since we have a terrible weather this week, I am not sure if I'll finish it this week.

message 143: by Nicole (new)

I only listen to audio's when I'm on the treadmill. It's the only way I'll get on the damn thing 😂

message 144: by Melitta (new)

Melitta Jackson (themidnightlibrarian) | 74 comments Taking longer than i originally wanted for Emma in the Night. I've been trying to listen to it at work but we've been busy with new employees. Hoping to hunker down and listen as i work on my bullet journal for November.

message 145: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Barstad (maidenoflight) Almost done with No Human Involved: A Munch Mancini Mystery. Will get it done tomorrow.

message 146: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments Awesome everyone! We only need 4 more books to complete 2 words and we've completed all 4 bonus tasks.

I think we can get 3 words done let's keep trying! :D

message 147: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (boombaby13) | 319 comments Not to rush anyone but will we have week 2 tracking up soon? I find it helps if I can get a visual on where books will fall with the ones I have to read coming up.

message 148: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (boombaby13) | 319 comments Looking at the spreadsheet I believe we have a few members of the team that haven't added anything yet. It would probably help to get an update on what everyone plans to have done at the end of the week so we don't end up with books that can't be used too.

message 149: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments I'll check on the week 2 tab for the spreadsheet.

We do have a few members who haven't checked in since the start of the challenge. I've let the mods know and if they don't participate in week 1 they will most likely be replaced. I'll let the team know when I hear anything.

If we don't have the spreadsheet up from the mods tomorrow I'll create one for the tracking spreadsheet. In the meantime just plan what you want Carrie and we can either plan around your books or move things around.

Thanks Melissa. :) I've been trying to look to see if things will fit the word, especially finder the tougher letters. I do know I have a few with I, O, C, K that might be harder to find.
