El amor en los tiempos del cólera is a bestselling novel by a Nobel-prize winning author Gabriel García Márquez. A story about love lasting over decades is set in Colombia in 1930s, yet has an eternal feel, due to Marquez's so-called magical realism style.

came only twenty years later. It is the first adaptation of Marquez's work made by Hollywood studio. The cast is superb and filled with many renown Spanish and Latino American actors. The newspapers (according to Wikipedia) cited that when it was shown to him privately, Marquez was pleased with the adaptation. It remains to be seen if we as picky readers will be pleased too.

The book is of a kind that cannot be justly separated in two or more parts, so I suggest you read it as such and come back here after reading it. The movie can be discussed here too. Just use spoiler tags wherever may be appropriate.
