B.A. Major: Military Science
Books about WWII, from the axis perspective.
Books (fiction or nonfiction) about any high ranking military officer (the United States or global) - Could books about Alexander the Great be used for this task?
Thanks.

As for WWII from the axis side, I was thinking The Women in the Castle or At the Wolf's Table

I would think there are lots of books on Napoleon, U.S. Grant, Robert E. Lee, Patton, Eisenhower, and MacArthur to name a few Generals.

I just read Women in the Castle with my book club last night and I thought it was excellent. Another book from the axis perspective is [book:Those Who Save Us. Neither of the books are military stories, however, both books feature German characters during WWII.

Books on Alexander the Great are fine. Other possibilities Grant:, The Rickover Effect: How One Man Made a Difference, Patton: A Genius for War. Whatever general you are interested in. You can also do high ranking military officers from other countries, I am just not personally familiar with many.
An axis book that was suggested by another member and has been pinned is: Fatherland.

I have Women in Castle and one task is taken care of!

Another book I have is

This is about the the great Chola King Rajaraja who was also a great military general. There are two volumes of this book.
The book Ponniyin Selvan by Kalki has another translated version in 5 parts by C.V. Kathik Narayanan. The first volume is -

All the five volumes are here:

There is also another 4 part book by Kalki called Sivakamiyin Sabadham. This is about the great Pallava Emperors Mahendra Varmar and Narasimha Varmar (lovingly referred to as Maamallar, who was instrumental in creating the beautiful sculptures in Mamallapuram) - both of them were great military leaders. The first volume is

These are translated versions from Tamil to English. Would any of these books suit the task?
In 2018, I read two books which would have fitted this task easily -

Krishnadevaraya was the Emperor of Vijayanagar and a military genius.
Thanks.

Thanks a lot, Tom.

Military Science : B.A. Major
Read a book (fiction or nonfiction) about any high ranking military officer (the United States or global)
Thanks.

Military Science-
Read 2 books from the Professional Military Reading List.
There are many lists mentioned in some of the links, i.e. pertaining to years 2014, 2015, 2016 etc.
Could the 2 books be from any of the lists or it should be only from the latest list in a particular link?
Thanks.

Picton was known famously known by the Duke of Wellington as a foul-mouthed devil and was Welsh minor gentry. He often rode to battle on a blue topcoat and top hat, and died at Waterloo shot through that same hat which is in Carmarthen museum. I enjoyed it and it does give an insight into Wellingtons general tactics, (Mostly find really good places to fight and only be drawn into battles if you are in one.) Pretty sensible eh!.
