That sounds like a really nice idea!

message 16: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Schwartz (jenny_schwartz) | 59 comments I read romance all the time, so I think I could sign up to this challenge and know I'll actually manage it :) That's what keeps me from signing up to other challenges. I hate not meeting commitments.

A Georgette Heyer re-read sounds wonderful, but I have Engaging The Enemy on my kindle, so I'll sign up to read Susanne's book and I've just requested Safe Harbour by Helene Young at the library, so I'll add that too. She writes fab romantic suspense.

Jenn (jumpapa) | 791 comments I am going to be reading Bitten by Kelley Armstrong for this challenge.

Odette (odman) | 1119 comments I have Voyager by Diana Gabaldon on my Kindle TBR list. I will plan to read this third outlander book in September. The series has quite chunky books and am just reading one every few months.

Andrea | 2145 comments Renée wrote: "Due to the amount of books on my shortlist TBR I'm going to just aim for one this challenge The Time Traveler's Wife"

That's one of my favourite books ever. I just saw an announcement from Random House (today) that a sequel is on the way, too.

Sally906 | 74 comments I will just post them as I read them. Have a quite a few to pick from :)

message 22: by Heather (last edited Aug 20, 2014 03:02AM) (new)

Heather | 387 comments I'm going to read The Cupid Effect by Dorothy Koomson. It's been a few months since I've read one of her books

message 23: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 2145 comments I'm thinking this would be a good opportunity to delve into Outlander/Cross Stitch by Diana Gabaldon and see what all the fuss is about, but I'm quite daunted by its length. I'm a slow-ish reader, but persistent if I'm really into the story. I like to finish my challenge book within the challenge month. What do you think my chances are?

message 24: by Bec (new)

Bec (gecko-girl) | 281 comments think I will read one that is already on my spring list if that's ok - Crimson Dawn by Fleur McDonald

If you like a bit of time travel, some historical fiction and a really great love story you will love that book Andrea. Hopefully you will find it as hard to put down as I did.

message 28: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9757 comments This is not usually my genre but I've found a couple of books on my kindle that look like they'll fit into this challenge: Safe Harbour by Helene Young and Unleashing Mr. Darcy by Teri Wilson.

That's great Ariel! Now you have no problems on your choice for September:)

message 35: by Ariel (new)

Ariel Brown | 44 comments @Brenda Thats true! As a general rule I avoid romantic novels - and I don't have a really good sense of humour... But this challenge looks to change my perception! Three books are not really a challenge to read, as it takes me normally about 12 hours to read an average sized novel (I was the child under the blankets with a torch! Much to my mother's dismay!).

I don't think I'll attempt them on top of the gigantic pile I have to read here then;)

Lee at ReadWriteWish (leeatreadwritewish) | 322 comments I have a copy of The Sunnyvale Girls by Fiona Palmer to review. It seems perfect! It's even got a very 'spring' name! Hopefully I'll find time to squeeze in another! :)

Maybe not although the way you speed through your books Brenda you might be fine with them. I wonder whether you'd like them? I would definitely recommend them.

Sharon Robards (sharonrobards) | 944 comments MMMMMM I want to play but I'm not really a traditional romance reader although I have read many and have enjoyed lots, well I like to think I prefer love stories that do not fit into a standard romance format...so guys what is your favourite contemporary or historical romance or love story you've ever read.

message 45: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 3569 comments I am not a traditional romance reader either, Sharon, but 2 of my favourite books this year have been The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion and Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.

I also read The Lavender Keeper by Fiona McIntosh last year and enjoyed it - a historical fiction romance - WWII.

And I read The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger earlier this year and thought it was very clever - great if you like some time travel, although it did do my head in, at times!!

message 46: by Lily (new)

Lily Malone | 102 comments I'm with Jenny Schwartz earlier. I actually have 3 romance books that will all hit my Kindle in September. So I'd love to do this challenge. Otherwise I too feel like I'm letting someone down if I don't keep up.
I hope everyone enjoys reading the books they choose. For me, there are some wonderful aussie romance writers at the moment and my 3 are all Aussie books.
Miss Spelled by Sarah Belle
Driving In Neutral by Sandra Antonelli
and
Deep Diving by Cate Ellink

Have you tried Deborah Challinor Sharon? Her books Behind the Sun and Girl of Shadows are terrific convict stories with a goodly bit of romance involved! The two books follow each other with the third, The Silk Thief due to be released in November.....I'm hanging out for that one!
Or...Ghost Gum Valley by Johanna Nicholls
I think you would enjoy any of these ;)

message 48: by Jülie ☼♄ (last edited Aug 21, 2014 02:15PM) (new)

Jülie ☼♄  (jlie) | 6580 comments I'll try to find something in my Spring challenge choices...I'm sure something there should fit the bill....I do have The Sunnyvale Girls by Fiona Palmer also....does this fit the bill, any romance there? Also The Blue Mile by Kim Kelly.

message 49: by Sally906 (last edited Aug 21, 2014 04:22PM) (new)

Sally906 | 74 comments Just a point of clarification - The challange doesn't say you have to read three books - just read romance at some stage during the month. so if you want to read one, three or even twenty romances that is great - but it doesn't have to be three :)

I for one plan to read more than one - but I'm a sucker for romances :)

The Sunnyvale Girls by Fiona Palmer will certainly fit the challenge - i haven't read The Blue Mile - has anyone read it? Is there romance in it?
