I have no idea what to write here. I love Bernard Cornwell and Manda Scott and I’m trying to branch out and read other historical fiction authors.

Amy (busymind) | 1 comments Hello everyone, I'm Amy and I have just joined the group. It's my first group and my first comment so I'm shiny and new in many ways (although sadly not physically ha ha).

I'm somewhat new to reading HF but seem to have developed a bit of an obsession with it, so I'm very much looking forward to getting some recommendations and chatting with everyone.

message 9: by Julia (new)

Julia | 1 comments I'm Julia! I'm from the Northeastern US. I'm a theatre major and a Holocaust studies minor. I love history and historical fiction, obviously, I have a soft spot for 20th century, but I want to read some earlier stuff as well!

I too am a huge historical fiction fan and love Ken Follett. I've not heard of the Zion Covenant series, but will look it up. I'll have to look into it and possibly add it to my TBR list.

message 12: by Charlie (new)

Charlie Hanks hello! I'm Charlie. I am a huge historical fiction reader. I also am a writer and just published my first book, a memoir in Nov. I am a singer in a metalcore band, a mom, and I run a small etsy business. I am in Las Vegas. I'm excited to discover new titles in this group and share thoughts on the books we read.

message 13: by Jack (new)

Jack Dixon Hello! My name is Jack. I love to read and watch period works. I am finding myself thoroughly enjoying my latest historical fiction reads, so I thought this group might be a great place for some recommendations. I have recently added a bunch of books that I obtained to read (book hoarder). My favorites are the true stories, but I love the fictions too. I look forward to following this group and participating when I can.

message 14: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1 comments Hi, all!
My name is Becca! I'm from sunny San Diego, California. I honestly haven't read enough books recently, and I am making it a goal to read more this year. I hate to think of it as a "resolution", but I suppose that's what it is.

I am a part time Costume Designer for theatre in my area, and historical fashion has always fascinated me. I almost got my degree in history, but decided I'd rather go with costume design since I could get my favorite part of history in more depth. The fashion! That's a lot of why historical fiction has always been my favorite book genre. I can be a part of that time, in some way, and feel as though I am really there. It's inspirational for me.

The more variety, the better, honestly! I am excited to see what kind of exciting books we can explore together!

I love my family, art, tapas, traveling, crunching numbers (I know...weird, right?), and writing. I've published a couple of things, but won't be advertising here.

This is my first reading group. "A Gentleman in Moscow" seemed like a good starting place.

Arlene Walker | 4 comments Hello out there! By way of re-introduction, I'm a lover of fiction but mostly historical fiction as I love to get lost in another time and place. My preference is Civil War, Reconstruction Era and World War II for some reason. Go figure. But I'll read other eras, too. Happy reading!

message 50: by Jean (new)

Jean Roberts Hello, I'm Jeanie from Texas. I love historical fiction. I prefer European history, especially anything set in the middle ages. I'll read anything up to the mid-1800s.

I finally took the plunge and have written two books, both self-published.

Hope to connect with like-minded readers and fill my library with great books to read.
