Jordan Leverenz | 45 comments 1. One Day in December by Josie Silver

Finished my first book of the year!!! I have this book 5/5 stars. I absolutely loved it! I’m obsessed with Hallmark Christmas movie and this book is like one. I recommend this book.

Jordan Leverenz | 45 comments 2. Young Avengers #1

I wanted to start reading comics that have Loki in them and started with Young Avengers. I have it 5 stars because it is Marvel and I tend to like anything Marvel. I now need to get the second one!

Jordan Leverenz | 45 comments 3. Borders and Boundaries: Women in India's Partition by Ritu Menon and Kamla Bhasin

This is the first book that we have read in my Gender and Nations class. It's a very interesting read. I never knew about the Partition in India and this book is about the women and their history since no one asked them about their experience.

Jordan Leverenz | 45 comments 4. Women Without Class by Julie Bettie

This is another book from my Gender and Nations class.

Jordan Leverenz | 45 comments 5. Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan

I had started reading this last year but then it was a required book for my gender and nations class so I decided to hold off on reading it until it was time to read it in that class. I enjoyed this book. I’m not going to give it a star rating because I kind of hate doing star ratings. I now need to get the second book!

Jordan Leverenz | 45 comments 6. Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

5/5

How is this not a real band! I loved this book. While reading this I could only imagine Daisy Jones looking like Juliet Simms (if you don’t know who Juliet Simms is look her up). The characters seem like real people. They are a band that I would listen to. I loved the writing style and how it was in interview format.

Jordan Leverenz | 45 comments 7. We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson

3.5/5

I watched the movie before reading this and I feel like that is why I rated it lower. The book had these long descriptions that I ended up skimming over. The movie has a different ending for Charles Blackwood. Also the movie has Sebastian Stan playing Charles Blackwood.

Oh I didn’t know they’d made a film of this. I like this book and Sebastian Stan so I’ll have to check it out :-)

Jordan Leverenz | 45 comments 8. Emergency Contact by Mary H. K. Choi

2/5 stars

I was really hoping that I would like this book. I like the concept. I usually don’t care if the characters are likable or not but Penny got on my nerves so much. I liked Sam and Jude. Penny didn’t grow as a person. She spent the entire book complaining about her mom. Some of the things Penny and Sam were saying wasn’t things a 18 and 21 year old would say. When they were in Sam’s room Penny made a comment about how she was disappointed he didn’t have a swastika on his ceiling (why was this needed?!). I ended up skimming through he last 40-50 pages because I just wanted to finish it.

Jordan Leverenz | 45 comments 9. Privilege, Power, and Difference by Allan G. Johnson

I finally finished another book. I've been busy because college started again so I haven't had much time to read. I'm not going to rate this book since it was for a class.

Jordan Leverenz | 45 comments 10. Justice: What’s the right thing to do?

The fall semester is over and I’m now on winter break. This was another book for a class so I’m not going to rated it. Hopefully during my break I can get more reading done.

Jordan Leverenz | 45 comments 11. A Dash of Love by Liz Isaacson

3.5/5 stars
It’s based off of a Hallmark movie. It’s nothing spectacular but it is a cute short read. It’s about 2 chefs who fall in love. It even includes a recipe that is mentioned in the book.

Jordan Leverenz | 45 comments 12. A Sloth's Guide to Taking it Easy by Sarah Jackson

I got this as a Christmas gift because my family knows how much I love sloths. It's a cute little book with advice about taking it easy when you are starting to get stressed out.
