Hi all!

Does anyone here know of any strategy to increase a books page reads within Kindle Unlimited? How do successful authors gain visibility within the program?

Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

Write books. Write more books. Put them on Amazon exclusively and make sure they are enrolled in KDP Select. Write some more books. Do the same. The more books you get out there, the more likely they'll get read.

Oh, and if you make sure they're quality books, you'll increase the chances someone will pick up more.

Question, and I do not mean this sarcastically, but do you believe good work has the potential to earn more than a tank or half a tank of gas per month? I know I'm struggling with mental and physical issues, but that's about what I'm earning now writing for an online magazine. I know I'm doing something wrong, but it's the best I can do. Thank you. Hugs, Sam

While I won't argue with the wisdom of writing more quality books, I have to think there's more to it than that. There are millions of books in KU. Many of which, are high-quality. But simply writing high-quality fiction is not a straight line to page reads or sales. There has to be a promotional component to gain the crucial visibility, no?

All work has the potential of earning more than a tank of gas a month. Good is subjective, but what most would call "good" has a better chance. Will it? Maybe. This remains a fickle industry and no magic formula for success has been found, yet.

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 973 comments Thank you, Dwayne. I'm doing the best I can, but we're struggling so bad financially, writing online is the only thing I am doing that's bringing in money, as my jewelry sales have dropped off. Thank you again. I'm going to keep trying harder and harder. Hugs

B.A. A. Mealer | 975 comments The other thing beyond writing high quality books is writing to market. If you write without a market, you aren't going to sell many if any. It has to be something people want to read. So look at markets and if, like me, you write then look to where it will fit, you need to niche it down.

The other thing if you want to make money is to get an email list and keep them happy. Out of a promo, I ended up with 1300 give or take a few on my email list. Of those, I had 500 who downloaded the free book and got 15 sales so far of a $4.99 book in the last week. But, I have them for when my next book comes out. I'm in a hard category of mystery/thriller/suspense. This is also my first time of trying to get a list together and actively making it into a business. I'll do much the same for my inspirational books and keep the lists separate. Nick Stephenson's Reader Magnet is a great way to get started. If you want to let things go passively, then yes, KDP select is a great way to go.

Bruno Stella (brunostella) | 49 comments Sam, if it makes you feel any better at all, I'm selling very little as well. I'm making almost enough to cover the cost of promoting the books through AMS. Almost.

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 973 comments Hi Bruno, I haven't published a book yet. I've only published articles and short stories online. Though I am working at and do intend to publish a novel... someday. Perhaps my comment didn't belong here. I apologize to the moderators. Hugs

Marc Therrien | 8 comments I agree with Dwayne : write a lot of books. The more books you’ve written, the likeliest it becomes that readers will spot one, and it will lead them to buy your other books as well. Also target your audience well for each book. It’s useless to promote a science fiction book to romance readers, for example.

If you’re looking for more advice, there’s a book by David Gaughran, titled « Amazon Decoded ». It gives very good strategies and information about how to use Amazon tools to maximize sales.
