Just last week I finished
How Long 'til Black Future Month?
by N.K. Jemisin

NO I don't think the question was addressed at all! Unless the answer is "right now" since it's a book of (mostly) "Afro-futurism" short stories.

YES I absolutely recommend it!!! This collection was SOLID!!!

Anne (annefullercoxnet) | 204 comments Title: Why Didn't They Ask Evans?

The question was absolutely answered.

I recommend it, but then I would recommend most of Agatha Christie's work.

I read Where'd You Go, Bernadette in 2017 and I liked it. I found it a bit difficult to totally suspend my disbelief near the end, but I did enjoy Semple's writing style. Did anyone else find the ending a bit too "out there"? It could well just be me... I would definitely read another of her books!

Do you feel the question from the title was addressed or answered through the book? Yes
Would you recommend? Yes, it was fast faced. I felt the fist few parts were written like social commentary and very funny. The last few parts turned more serious.

message 6: by Cendaquenta (new)

Cendaquenta | 718 comments I also just finished How Long 'til Black Future Month?.
I second what Nadine said about it. Liked it a lot.

*raises hand* yes, the ending was SO out there!!

Please include the following:

Title: Where'd You Go, Bernadette
Author: Maria Semple
Do you feel the question from the title was addressed or answered through the book? Yes, and I feel like it functioned on not only a physical level, but also a metal/emotional level for the main character.
Would you recommend? I guess it would depend on the person. Like PP, I found it fast-paced, and enjoyed the wittiness and definitely laughed out loud at certain points. But by the end, I was kind of scratching my head like, "Okay, I guess we're here?" But I liked it better than the previous monthly reads so far!!
Sidenote: I decided to use this book for the advanced prompt about weird chapters.

Do you feel the question from the title was answered: yes. The entire book is looking at out there questions and giving scientific answers.

Would you recommend: yes. If you enjoy pondering the absurd this is a great book.

Do you feel the question from the title was addressed or answered through the book? Yes but I was surprised how long it took to get to the disappearance.
Would you recommend? Yes, it was quite strange and wasn’t really what I expected but I enjoyed it. I can’t wait for the movie.

Would you recommend? I didn't really love this book so probably not. I think it might be because I listened to it on audio CD rather than read the actual book, but I just couldn't get into it. Like others I found the ending "out there" and a little far-fetched.

Suki St Charles (goodreadscomsuki_stcharles) | 20 comments I read two books this month that have a question as a title:

Title: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Author: Philip K. Dick
Do you feel the question from the title was addressed or answered through the book? Yes. There are both androids and electric sheep in the story.
Would you recommend? This book was the basis for the movie Blade Runner. If you want the book to be true to the movie, I would not recommend it-- the only similarities between the two are Rick Deckard and his hunt for replicants. If you simply want a good science-fiction read that bends and twists the reality of its world, I would highly recommend it.

Title: Dortmunder #5: Why Me
Author: Donald E. Westlake
Do you feel the question from the title was addressed or answered through the book? Yes. The Dortmunder series of books are comic crime caper novels written and set in the 1970s and 80s. Dortmunder is a petty criminal with very bad luck (hence the title).
Would you recommend? I would recommend this series to anyone who likes to laugh and enjoys crime novels.

That's a difficult question. It was certainly interesting, but at the same time incredibly irritating, but intentionally so.

Would you recommend? Hard to say, it isn't a great start to the Lord Peter Wimsey series, but first books are often the roughest. I do want to read one more before I decide if it is worth it.

Jess Penhallow | 427 comments Title:Did You Ever Have a Family
Author: Bill Clegg
Do you feel the question from the title was addressed or answered through the book? Sort of. In the context of the story it was a rhetorical question uttered in frustration. However, it also represents the theme of family within the book and how you would cope if they were no longer there
Would you recommend? Definitely, as long as you don't mind books with a lot of characters and POVs. I do so this book was great for me.
