Joanna Chaplin | 1175 comments While we're reading Ted Chiang, I want to point people in the direction of The Lifecycle of Software Objects, which is free online at this link. This is longer than the stories in the collection. Its Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ profile puts it at 150 pages.

This was the first Ted Chiang story I ever read and it made me cry a little.

terpkristin | 4388 comments I've bookmarked it for later. I'm not yet sold on Chiang. The first story in SoYLaO wasn't really "for me," though I'm interested in seeing where it goes with the next story.

We shall see.

Ben Rowe (benwickens) Are quite a few other stories available online by Ted Chiang that were written after this collection came out including Lifecycle and Truth of Fact, Truth of Feeling at the subpress site- I put a link to some of them in the general collection thread.

I had also developed odd feelings toward so many long-forgotten Facebook games, abandoned when I got bored, outpaced the new content development, or hit a pay or friends gate.

kvon | 563 comments Here's another Hugo winning short story, Exhalation. It's an odd alternate hydraulic universe.
