Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 870 comments Does everyone here know about ?

It's a well run site with lots of Amazon bargains and freebies and it sends out a daily newsletter which I think is one of the best of its type. The daily drabble is often very funny and you can send in your own drabbles (100 words) for possible publication.

In case you're wondering, I'm not involved in running it - I just find it useful.

Jade (sourburst) | 6 comments The works! Can you believe I got the whole mortal instruments set there for £2 a piece?

I'm looking out for the notebook so if anyone knows where I can grab a deal with that one, please let me know!

Tori Clare (poochie1) | 2931 comments Picked up two books today in Morrisons. They have a table out next to the newsagent stand. People leave their old books and can take whatever they want. There is a charity collection box to leave a small contribution if you want. What a great idea. This morning after an hour or two of mind-numbing shopping, I stopped by the table and got myself an Italian phrasebook (off to Italy next year) and another book full of little thought-of-the-day quotes. I hate that sort of thing personally, but I know a lot of people who'd love it, so I'll give it away to the next person who looks like a likely candidate. Does anyone else have the advantage of more-or-less free second-hand books in their local supermarket? I think it's a great idea. I'll deposit my old books there when I've had enough of them and collect a few more. Atonement was there this morning, which I'd have been very excited about if I hadn't read it already. Brilliant book.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 870 comments I was not very pleased when 'Atonement' came out as I'd reserved that title for what is now called 'Hide in Time'. I saw the film but haven't read the book.

We have a similar bookstall at our local railway station.

Oh yes, we've had this discussion before haven't we? You have to read Ian McEwan, Anna. He's incredible. I think you should have gone ahead and called your book Atonement if you'd wanted to. McEwan has a massive following. All those people might have happily stumbled across your book by accident. It could have been very good for business!

Did you get the PM I sent you last week? Just to let you know I'm currently reading ODN ;-) 40% done!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 550 comments Yes, our local Co-op do that, its a good idea

Ellie M (elliemcc11) | 595 comments In our Parish Council boundaries we have 2 red telephone boxes which have been converted to Bookswaps. You deposit books and take some away for free. They also have defrib machines which is a useful community resource.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 870 comments Hi Tori, yes, I did get the PM and have kept very quiet so as not to yatter in your ear when you need all the time you can corral for all the things you do. Thank you for reading it, I hope you enjoy it.

I did think about hanging on to 'Atonement' because that is what Laura feels she must do (atone) before she can move on but then the title 'Hide in Time' plopped into my head and, on checking, it was completely original and described what Xandra had to do if she wanted to stay alive. Quite important, eh? So it won the battle. If I'd kept 'Atonement' I had visions of readers getting mad with me thinking I had pinched Ian McEwan's title.

We haven't wandered off the subject as HiT is currently a bargain book. Well, for one more day anyway.

There's a good Oxfam book shop in my nearest town and I have picked up some great books there for next to nothing. There's a whole two floors. I get in there and time just disappears and I come out hours later.

Tori Clare (poochie1) | 2931 comments I will let my Twitter followers - all 4,500 of them - know that your book is currently a bargain book. I'll put an ad out now before I go to bed. Leave it with me ;-)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 870 comments There are some wonderful people in this world and I think there'd be quite a few UKB Clubbers who'd agree that you are one and it's no wonder you have 4,500 followers.

Thank you.

Lol! Thanks, Anna, but really it's no trouble. 4.5K is a small number of followers on Twitter, but the ad has been re-tweeted, so it should reach a few, plus I've sent two more round this morn and will continue to tweet on your behalf throughout today whenever I go on my laptop. It only takes a second to send the same ad round. Can't promise any results, but can promise I'll keep having a go.

Best of luck.
