Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments This month I will admit to be being a little shameless. I love witch stories so I worked it into a BOM ...fairly I think lol

Anyway I am torn between Mayfair Witches and Practical Magic...The Witching Hour is a great read but very long so I think I will nominate

Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman

Angie | 419 comments One of my favorite authors is HP Mallory, so I'd like to nominate Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble, the first book in a whole series about witches, vampires, werewolves, Fae, and probably some other races I'm forgetting.

It's in my TBR list, looks funny. Is it?

Missyb, I absolutely loved the whole series! It actually has a spin off that's in progress now, one of the three out so far. Ms Mallory does a great job of putting humor, action, mystery, and romance in her books that make them completely worthwhile. Fire, Burn and Cauldron Bubble has a witch, Jolie Wilkins, as the main character. The only down side to her writing is that she loves cliffhangers a bit too much for me. I've decided from now on to wait until a series is finished before I start. Another great writer that throws all the above into books is Molly Harper, minus the cliffhangers. Harper has a new stand alone with a ghost, and Mallory has a trilogy with a ghost that is two thirds done.

Joseph (bluemanticore) | 208 comments Angie wrote: "Missyb wrote: " Another great writer that throws all the above into books is Molly Harper, minus the cliffhangers. ..." Harper is one of my favorite authors. Her books are a riot to read, she writes fun cozy mystery/romance/urban fantasy about "ordinary" life, at least as ordinary as can be with a great combo of ghosts, vampires, and werewolves. Since Suzanne seconded my nomination, can I nominate the Molly Harper ghost stand alone Angie was referring to Better Homes and Hauntings?

Yes since Suzanne seconded you original nomination I will include both :-)

Sandra | 4716 comments I enjoyed Better Homes and Hauntings and I found The Restorer to be scary and the romance non-existant :)

I'll nominate The Deadly Seance (Gooden and Knight Mystery, #2) by Monette Michaels witches, wizards, shifters and possibly ghosts.

"Abigail Gooden's Uncle Vidal is in love. His soon-to-be bride, Ariana Huntingdon, has asked him to perform a séance. Its purpose is twofold: to obtain Ari’s deceased husband’s blessing for the nuptials and to get his advice about some much needed tough love for their three adult children. Before Vidal can perform the séance, Ari dies in his arms--and it's definitely murder.

One of the five people in the room did it. Was it one of the spoiled children whose allowances were to be cut off? Was it Ari’s long-suffering, poor-relation secretary, Rose Connors? Or was it the butler, Simmons?"

message 18: by Lara (new)

Lara | 742 comments I nominate Forbidden Magic Forbidden Magic (Magic, #1) by Cheyenne McCray with a witch fighting evil with a Celtic warrior.
