He could tell you but then he would have to kill you to preserve the secrecy.

Mark don't be ridiculous... You could just give me a hint then you would only have to beat the snot out of me..
If the reference is to a challenge coin: to my knowledge they have never been used by Clandestine services.
Challenge coins are a US military Special ops and Airborne unit invention that originally were only available to actual members of the Unit.
They didn't become available commercially until after Desert storm.
Personally; I have 3 with my name and rank engraved on them but in all my years in the field as a clandestine operator I never heard of such in thing as "Spy Coin".
In the past we did have a false coin that contained a tiny cyanide syrette but I do not believe they were ever Issued except to Pilots. (plus they leaked when they got old)

I did actually know what the answer was.

I just find it humorous to offer an "authentic item never used in service that can have no authenticity.
maybe I'm wrong and there was some kind of SD card coin used but I have my doubts simply because the technology is so obsolete and has been for years. Plus it is policy to not release such things to the public simply because an allied Intelligence Service might still be using that technology.
Remember what you see in the civilian market has usually been in use for 20+ years in the field and is functionally obsolete by the time it is declassed.
We had sat-phones and GPS units in the 70's and even today a civilian device has about 5% of the capability of the ones used in the field. My sat-phone in 1986 had more capability than a new one today (it was however much larger and had an umbrella antenna that had to be carried on your leg.
This is why I do not read spy novels very often, I make it to the first indication the author lacks personal experience of the game and I generally stop reading.
Writing about clandestine operations is like writing about combat is just not very well done by those who have never experienced it. There are things you can never describe without experiencing the fear that comes with them.

how does a commercially produced toy qualify as Authentic?
that is not an item that would be used in the field. maybe by corporate thieves but not by any clandestine service. Just having a US coin you your possession in the field is something to be avoided, same as having a certain visa stamps in your passport. IT IS VERY UNHEALTHY.
It is not uncommon for operators to have dental work removed and replaced because the quality is too American, and will give you away.
are they selling those at the Gift shop now?

Here is some food for thought.
"Authentic" - ADJ
1. not false or copied; genuine; real:
"an authentic antique."
2. having the origin supported by unquestionable evidence; authenticated; verified:
3. entitled to acceptance or belief because of agreement with known facts or experience; reliable; trustworthy:
