Belinda Storms (honeysweet) | 1 comments Hello, I'm Belinda! I'm a mom of 4 girls, a wife to my high school sweetheart, and freelance hobby photographer. I love mystery, thriller, biography, some romance, young adult and a few more :) I love to read, but it is sometimes sporadic. I can read 3 books a week and then not read for 5 weeks or I can read a book a week for 3 months. I only wish this app existed 20 years ago when I read hundreds of harlequin romance novels to list or locate my notebook I started in h.s. with the list of books I read. I sometimes read digitally, and sometimes I feel like I need a physical copy. And I am currently listening to my first ever audiobook. Reading has been passed down from my parents, grandparents, and a great grandma. My best friend, whom it took my 20 years to convince to read a book, now reads 3x as much as I do. Her response used to be "I don't read" and now says.... I should have listened to you! :) Thanks for accepting me into the group!

Hey, Belinda, welcome to the group! I can relate with being able to read a lot at one time and not all other times. I started reading Audiobooks last year and now I'm hooked! As Dagny said, they are really very good for listening while doing other things (though it took me a while to get to that stage as I used to doze off or get distracted a lot in my initial days of exploring audiobooks.

Please have a look around and see if you like any of the reading challenges. They are fun and a bigtime motivation to read more and explore new genres.

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) Hello there! I may have introduced myself already, but I'm trying to become more active. :) My name is Maggie, and I'm a librarian mom of two from Muskoka. I have loved books for as long as I can remember, and my day just isn't complete without reading a chapter or three! Besides devouring a good book, my hobbies include singing, hiking, writing, and baking. I don't have a favourite genre, but I do tend to finish novels with some family drama quicker. ;) I look forward to making new friends and getting some excellent recommendations.

Maggie,

There’s no requirements here on how active you must be in this group. We know life can get busy sometimes. Next month’s Genre Challenge category is Contemporary Fiction, which would fit in nicely with those “family drama novels you enjoy. But please feel free to jump in anywhere you’d like.

Hey Maggi, welcome back. I've always adored librarians, so it's great to meet one here too! As Cheryl said, next month's genre would accommodate family drama very well, though we have dystopian and apocalyptic fiction this month so do join us in case if you have any books in either genre that you want to read. Looking forward to seeing you around :)

message 573: by Debara (new)

Debara Carlson | 5 comments This is Debara, I’ve introduced myself earlier s reading the Dickens novels in chronological order. It feels like a log time ago and I have not participated since. Warning: this is totally off the current topic or book challenge genre. I have bee trying to remember the name of a mystery ( I think it’s a series but not sure) and the author. The setting for the mystery is the 14th century England, maybe in Oxford. The “detective may have been a scholar. I don’t remember whether the mystery was a disappearance or a murder, maybe both. What makes this story stand out was that Katherine Swynford and John of Gaunt were characters who were interviewed. Ann Swinfen’s books were not the ones I’m looking for. They take place when John of Gaunt was a boy. Does anyone know the book/author I’m writing about? I’m hoping someone out there has read it or others in the series.

Reading is actually my hobby since I was in elementary. I love to read anything such as self-improvement, romance, history, mystery, thriller, and so on. Aside from that I also enjoy movies, music, and traveling.

I’m new here, so if you guys have any book recommendations, please let me know 😊

message 577: by The Lazy Reader (new)

The Lazy Reader (icy_blues) Hello All! My name is Shriam and I adore books of all kinds, all genres, the love just keeps flowing hahaha. When I was young, I had just four of my dad's novels from school and two of my mother's cookbooks to contend with and I read all six relegiously.

Now it's gotten so bad that I admit I suffer some FOMO when it comes to whats new and hot in fantasy and science fiction. Alas, you can't read them all. This thought is reassuring to some people but for me, its just terrifying.

My guilty pleasure are children fantasy novels and though I used to love YA, I find myself growing out of them. I am trying to dabble in horror these days.

T (satya_t) Hey everyone! I'm Satya.
I used to be an avid reader when I was a kid. I was obsessed with nancy drew, hardy boys and sherlock holmes. I still am. My reading habits have been basically confined to the mystery, thriller and crime genres so far. But I have recently taken up a resolution to expand and venture into all the genres and I am proud to say that I have successfully read 16 books in the past 2 months("yay!!!!!"*pat on the back*). I'm currently obsessed with classics and YA ("not much, I know!*sigh*"). I really hope this group will help me in finding lots and lots of beautiful books and make my life more meaningful(*fingers crossed*).
Let's have fun!!
