Looks like I have to get reading if I want to make my 50 for 2009!

OK, there are 16 weeks left in the year and I have 23 books left to reach the goal. I think I am going to have to plan my reads to accomplish the 50 books, 3 books every two weeks. I think I can do it!

So, I finshed The Gathering and Parchmnet of Leaves and also finished another. Am I on track? I don't know.

Finished today (9/23). An interesting, disturbing well written book. Enjoyed it.

34. The Siege of Krishnapur, JG Farrell.

I am counting this book even though I did not complete it. I read over 180 pages and it took me a while to get through it. I found the book disappointing, boring and lacking any excitement.

35. Possession, A.S. Byatt

I struggled to get through this book, but was determined to read it all (minus the portions I skimmed) because I had given up on my last one.

As for my reading goal, this book has not made the goal easier to attain; I just spent way too much time on it. But, I am going to read, read, read, and hopefully make it!

Good but not great.

11 weeks and 14 books to go....loosing confidence that I will reach my goal, but still going for it!

Monef, This book was great. Along a similar line and also great is Everything Is Illuminated A Novel by Jonathan Safran Foer. Foer is married to Krauss and they write about similar topics but handle them in very different ways. Krauss' book is beautifully written from two very different characters' perspectives, and Foer's has some humor with magical realism-ish parts.

This was a great book, one of the best I have read in a while.

Well, it is the end of the year and I almost made my goal of reading 50 books. I am currently on #50, but I don't think I will finish it today. Despite the fact that I did not technically meet my goal of 50 for the year, I feel good about the amount of time I spent reading and the about the books I read. In 2009, I found some new authors to love(Louise Erdrich and Jonathan Safran Foer), and read a few really good books (top 4 were "the help" "everything is illuminated" "unaccustomed earth" and "time traveler's wife"). It is sad that I did not read any great books, but I hope 2010 will bring many great books!

2010 is here. My first read, begun in 2009, completed in 2010 was a disappointment.

Ooooh, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was my last read of 2009 and I absolutely floved it. I'm onto the Girl who Played with Fire right now. What did you think of Millenium #1? Will you be looking to read the rest in the series?

Yes, I loved dragon tattoo, it was one of the best books I have read in a while. There was a little excerpt of the girl who played with fire at the end of my paperback, and it did entice me. Someone has already promised to loan me the girl who played with fire, so I am looking forward to reading it soon. Hope you like that one just as much, I hear it is great, even better that dragon tattoo. And I will probably read the third one too. Fun books!

I also read about 100 pages of The Calligrapher's Daughter by Eugenia Kim, and although it was pretty good, I just was not in the mood, I needed action, movement in the book.

This book took waaaaaaaayyyyyy too long to read. Glad it is over.
