This is a thread that is set up to "pay it forward" and "help others less fortunate" than ourselves or to assist folks who are very deserving of our gratitude and service.

This is not a self promoting thread or a thread for solicitation. We reserve the right to delete any post which is not pre-approved. Thirst: A Story of Redemption, Compassion, and a Mission to Bring Clean Water to the World

Thirst A Story of Redemption, Compassion, and a Mission to Bring Clean Water to the World by Scott Harrison by Scott Harrison Scott Harrison

Synopsis:

An inspiring personal story of redemption, second chances, and the transformative power within us all, from the founder and CEO of the nonprofit charity: water.

At 28 years old, Scott Harrison had it all. A top nightclub promoter in New York City, his life was an endless cycle of drugs, booze, models--repeat. But 10 years in, desperately unhappy and morally bankrupt, he asked himself, "What would the exact opposite of my life look like?" Walking away from everything, Harrison spent the next 16 months on a hospital ship in West Africa and discovered his true calling. In 2006, with no money and less than no experience, Harrison founded charity: water. Today, his organization has raised over $300 million to bring clean drinking water to more than 8.2 million people around the globe.

In Thirst, Harrison recounts the twists and turns that built charity: water into one of the most trusted and admired nonprofits in the world. Renowned for its 100% donation model, bold storytelling, imaginative branding, and radical commitment to transparency, charity: water has disrupted how social entrepreneurs work while inspiring millions of people to join its mission of bringing clean water to everyone on the planet within our lifetime.

In the tradition of such bestselling books as Shoe Dog and Mountains Beyond Mountains, Thirst is a riveting account of how to build a better charity, a better business, a better life--and a gritty tale that proves it's never too late to make a change.

100% of the author's net proceeds from Thirst will go to fund charity: water projects around the world.

Our friends at goodreads asked us to assist:

Hello everyone, it's sure been awhile â€ I hope this post finds you all reading (or writing) one worthy of the big ol' 5-stars! I'm reaching out to you to ask if any of you would be interested in helping Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ promote the recent buy-books-for-kids charity event to your groups?

Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ is working with three charities to invite our members to buy books for kids. We’ve tied it to Back-to-School as 94% of teachers are having to buy books and other school supplies out of their own money. Would you be willing to share our blog post with your followers on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ? Judging from some of the comments on the blog so far, many readers feel the same as we do: we love the idea of helping more kids discover the magic of reading!

This could take as little as 30 seconds of your time to share to your followers, but the impact of that action could be tremendous! Instructions follow on how to share, if you so wish. At the top of the blog post (linked above), you’ll see the word “Share (it’s next to the Facebook and Twitter icons). Click on “Share and it will create a story for you. Feel free to add your own words.

I send you a gargantuan THANK YOU in advance for any help you can give here I hope this appeals to you!

All the best,
Shaun
