What better way to kick off the new year than giving a nod to our awesome group?! This week, you are looking for books that do not have A, T, or Y in the title. If you want to make this challenge a bit easier, you can ignore A or The at the beginning of the title, or, if you want to ramp it up, try to find a title that is longer than 3 words!

-----------------------------------
Suggestions:
You'll have to search your TBR for this one, but here are a few suggestions that were mentioned in the prompt nomination process:

Kindred
Room
Circe
Homegoing
Spinning Silver
Rivers of London
Bombproof
Lockdown
Clockwise
Gone Girl
Legend
Recursion
George
Beloved
Robinson Crusoe
Life of Pi
Wonder
Middlesex

For more suggestions, check out our ATY Group Listopia.

-----------------------------------
Optional Questions
1. What are you reading for this category?
2. Was it difficult to find titles that fit?

message 2: by Serendipity (new)

Serendipity | 441 comments I only had two possibilities when I scanned my TBR. Unwind or Where we Once Belonged. The latter is hard to find and my library doesn’t have it so it will probably be Unwind.

message 3: by Dana (new)

Dana | 141 comments I plan to read, Dirt for this one...and I actually had a few options!

message 4: by Angie (new)

Angie | 19 comments My plan is to finally read Neverwhere for this prompt. I'm excited!

message 5: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2962 comments I've spent 2019 failing to fit Crooked Kingdom into any prompts or side challenges. I was going to read it in my freebie time at the end of the year but maybe I can save it for week one. Otherwise I also have Vicious and Vox. It's surprisingly hard to find titles without ATY!

message 6: by Eva (new)

Eva | 1 comments For anyone looking for more ideas, here are some books that fit the prompt I'm considering:

1. A book with a title that doesn't contain the letters A, T or Y

Butler

Eva | 1 comments Hi Annie, your profile is private so the shelf is invisible. Could you make it visible somehow?

message 8: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1132 comments I'm thinking of either Rich People Problems, Kingdom Cons, or Pride... I also have Delicious Foods and Recursion in my audiobook library, so those are options too. The first book of the year (I'm reading in order) feels like an important choice to get right!

message 9: by MaryAnn (EmilyD1037) (last edited Oct 28, 2019 10:55AM) (new)

MaryAnn (EmilyD1037) I am planning Beloved by Toni Morrison for this prompt.
This will be my first book by Morrison. It is also from my library,
so that helps. I had several to choose from the list above.

message 10: by Kathy (new)

Kathy E | 3247 comments I'm considering these:
Nemesis - Agatha Christie
Bluebird, Bluebird - Attica Locke
Dubliners - James Joyce
Poor Miss Finch - Wilkie Collins
Swimming Lessons - Claire Fuller

message 11: by Eva (new)

Eva | 1 comments Oh, thank you so much for suggesting Dubliners! I've been meaning to read the whole thing after liking The Dead so much.

Kathy E | 3247 comments Eva wrote: "Oh, thank you so much for suggesting Dubliners! I've been meaning to read the whole thing after liking The Dead so much."

Eva,
I've had this book for a few years now. Time to read it!

message 13: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (heirloomroses) | 211 comments For a non-fiction option, I think I'll go for Psychic Blues.

Dana | 141 comments Annie wrote: "Dana wrote: "I plan to read, Dirt for this one...and I actually had a few options!"

... just so you know, Dirt has a t in it!"

Haha! Mom brain! Thank you...wrong prompt!

I actually plan to read Blood Echo for this one!

message 15: by Entropia (new)

Entropia | 283 comments 1. What are you reading for this category?
My options are:
Kindred
1Q84
W ciemność
Po piśmie
Król Bólu
Szkice piórkiem
If I would disregard subtitles there would be couple of more viable options:
Imperium korupcji: korupcja w Rosji i Królestwie Polskim w latach 1861-1917
SPQR: A History of Ancient Rome
Ship Fever: Stories
Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch
Neuroscience: A Mathematical Primer
Źle urodzone. Reportaże o architekturze PRL-u
But I think I will stick to the first six options ;)
2. Was it difficult to find titles that fit?
Nah, it was very easy, I just looked through my tbr to find fitting titles

Jill (dogbotsmum) | 1356 comments Jackie wrote: "For a non-fiction option, I think I'll go for Psychic Blues."

That has a Y in it. Easily done though.

Delicious Foods was amazing. It certainly wasn’t a happy happy joy book, but it was memorable, and the ending was satisfying.

message 19: by Nadine in NY (new)

Nadine in NY Jones | 2265 comments I was surprised at how many options I found on my TBR! I’m a little afraid I’m just not “seeing the offending letter so let me know if I missed one :-)

A few of my possibles:
Follow Her Home
Borne
Sip
Blood Bond
Neurocomic
Moonglow
Skin
Finding Nouf

message 20: by Teri (last edited Nov 06, 2019 02:44PM) (new)

Teri (teria) I found a lot of options in by TBR list, so I decided to narrow it down by only considering titles with more than one word.

In Cold Blood (likely my choice since it also fits with a personal challenge)
Sing, Unburied, Sing
Purple Hibiscus
Six of Crows
Red Rising
Spinning Silver
Her Smoke Rose Up Forever
When I'm Gone
Song of Solomon
Rebel Queen
Bird Box
In Farleigh Field

Hollow Kingdom by Kira Jane Buxton was by far the BEST book I've read this year! It's Secret Life of Pets meets the Zombie Apocalypse, it made me laugh out loud so many times, (but it also made me cry, darn it LOL).

message 27: by Karissa (new)

Karissa | 440 comments I think I'm going to read Spinning Silver for this prompt to kick off my year. I will also be able to knock off the Popsugar prompt for a book with gold, silver, or bronze in the title.

message 35: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Menzel | 12 comments I am going to read Wonder for this category. I have had it on my shelf for a while and it was already suggested in the prompt nomination process so this prompt was not difficult to fill at all! Also happy it is a nice short read, looking forward to it!

Chernobyl has a Y in it, though, so none of the titles containing it would count toward the challenge.

message 48: by Erica (new)

Erica | 554 comments I think I’m going to read Nod or Seed. Or possibly Queenie

message 49: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Morrison | 478 comments I actually had a bunch on my TBR. Here are the ones I don’t think I saw listed already if anyone is looking for more ideas.

Alexx (dinosaurslayeggs) | 136 comments 1. What are you reading for this category?
I will be reading Wonder by R. J. Palacio

2. Was it difficult to find titles that fit?
Not particularly. Like others, I just went through my TBR list and found a few books that fit the prompt, then chose the one I wanted to read the most!
