I chose this book because it looked like an interesting twist on a classic story. After reading the book, I really enjoyed it and it kept me on my toes which is always what I look for in a book.
This book is about what happened after the original story of The Wizard of Oz. Instead of going back to Kansas, like the original story, Dorothy stays in Oz and takes over. Amy Gumm and her pet rat get transported to Oz during a tornado. Once they arrived, Amy soon realizes that the Wizard of Oz story that she knew was false.
The munchkins, flying monkeys, tin man, scarecrow, lion, and many more are trapped under Dorothy‘s control. Everyone in the town of Oz who wasn’t under Dorothy’s spell despised her. Amy gets stuck in a bad situation and a witch appears and tells her that she can save her. Amy knew that making a deal with a witch was risky, and that there was probably consequences, but she did not have any choice. The catch ended up being Amy had to kill Dorothy, therefore freeing the people of Oz. However, this is easier said than done.
I recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read. Especially anyone who finds themselves getting bored easily when reading books. Because this book will do the opposite with its many twists and turns.
