2015 Reading Goals:
~read 72+ books*
~read more non-fiction [NF]
~read more classics [CL]

*I usually read 6-10 books a month, but I didn't want to set my yearly reading goal too high, because my reading time has been so sporadic lately. 72 books works out to 6 books a month, which should definitely be doable, especially with the months that have 5 weeks.

*[library pick] means that I chose this book while browsing my local library's shelves, and it's not on my TBR list. I try to pick at least one book a month this way, to expand my reading horizons.

POINT SYSTEM GUIDELINE
*can use books for multiple categories*

Read a general book: 1 point per book
Read a "shortie" (short story, poem, play): 0.5 points per
Read a group read book: 5 points per book
Read a buddy read book: 5 points per book you read with a buddy
Read a book for the genre challenge: 3 points per book
Read a book for a mini-challenge: 3 points per book
Complete a multi-book mini-challenge: 10 extra points
Bonus** - read a "chunkster" (500 pages or more): 5 points per book

*5 group read books (genre/NF/world/YA/classic) are worth 5 points each for reading/participation in discussion. Then there will be widgets and 3 points each for books read in the genre/NF category/region of the month.

Definitions:

A GENERAL book is any book you read this month (not covered by another category).

A GROUP READ book is limited to the books nominated and chosen by the group and discussed in the Group Read folder.

A GENRE Challenge book is any book that fits the Genre of the Month.

MINI-CHALLENGE books are 3 points each. There is an additional 10 point bonus for completing a challenge that involves several books.
For example, the Holiday Challenge is a 3 pointer, because it only requires one book. Something like the Continental Challenge, however, could get you 34 points upon completion. (3 for each category, plus 10 point bonus for finishing)

Whew, finally got things set up and ready to go for 2015 {taps toe and waits impatiently for January 1st...}

After being a very relaxed reader this year, with no challenges or really following a TBR list, I'm excited to jump back into challenges and a more structured reading schedule!

I'm setting a higher yearly goal of 150 books, which is almost 50 books more than what I read this year. But I've also stopped blogging recently, which used to take up a LOT of my time. I'm hoping to transfer that spare time to reading, and I'm optimistic that I can get close to my 2015 goal :) It's all in fun, even if I fall short, so no worries!

Great job, SJ! It looks like you're all set to go in 2015. Best of luck in your goal to 150, we'll be cheering you on!

I'm usually not lol. I had a lot of fun putting my area together though, and I think being more organized will help me get through some books that I've been wanting to read for a while now :)

After I set everything up I realized I had too ambitious of goals, for the amount of books I'll be able to read in 2015. Realistically I just can't read 150 books in a year at this time, since my schedule is so busy with my daughter's schooling. Sooo, while it pains me I have reduced the amount of books I'm going to aim for every month. Along with this, I've had to pare back on challenges I'm participating :( Ah well, I still get to do a couple of mini-challenges, as well as the Genre challenge, which are the ones I was most interested in.

Can't wait to start the new year!

Oh my... I couldn't even begin to be this prepared for my reading! And all that point tracking seems to fly right over my head. But you get to read Northanger Abbey next month, and that's one of my all time favourites. If it's your first time, then I'm envious of you. :)

It will be my first time reading Northahnger Abbey and I'm excited to get started with it :)
