Jennifer J. | 561 comments I have My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella that would work for the Green 8 because it is set in England and Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah that would work for Blue 6 because it is set in South Africa.

I know we have to be as specific as possible with location. According to the GRs page for My Not So Perfect Life it's set in London & Somerset. So it doesn't work for the 8. :(

But it's a great book, and we have 6 Reverses this month!

I'm checking with the Captain's Group on the other one. I'm second guessing myself on whether it looks 50% or not.

Laura | 2892 comments I need to read Nerve by Jeanne Ryan for another challenge. It looks like one of the characters is named Ian, so that's the Blue 5 covered!

message 205: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments I was already planning to read Valley of the Shadow (Elemental World, #4.5) by Elizabeth Hunter this month, so I can do the Blue 8.

Tatiana is also reading Born a Crime this month, so hopefully we can use one for the color card and one for a Reverse!

Jennifer J. | 561 comments How about Before She Knew Him by Peter Swanson for the Blue 3?

message 209: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Just found out that there is a Green cover, free Kindle version of Jane Austen's Emma if anyone wants to read that this month! Emma by Jane Austen

Looks good to me!

message 211: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments I've got Beastly Lindy's Diary (Beastly, #1.5; Kendra Chronicles, #1.5) by Alex Flinn , which is set in New York. I'm asking about this one for Red.

message 212: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Mcmahon | 90 comments I was planning to read His Majesty's Dragon, I think it works for Red 9

message 213: by Chris (new)

Chris | 190 comments Sorry, I’ve not been around much but now most of the aggro has gone irl I can re-concentrate (is that even a word?? 🤪) on more reading.

I think I have about 60 pages left on The Sisters Brothers so I am going to make a super duper effort to finish it tomorrow.

I’m messaging from my phone atm so I can’t show the next book (I’m listening to it on Audible) but it is called ‘We Need To Talk About Kevin by Kevin Bridges (a big comedian here). Most of the physical copy is blue so if it fits for any of the colours put me down (not like a dog though!).

Thank you so very kindly.

It sure does! And it's a good book! They start to get a little long, so I stopped after Book 8. But now I see book 9 was the last one, so I'll see if my library has it!

Glad to hear things are going better! Putting you down like a dog! LOL. Made me think of the movie "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" Which made me think of the Gilmore Girls dance marathon episode! Now I want to do a Gilmore Girls marathon!

I'm not sure your book quite hits 50% on blue, but, as it's non-fiction, we don't have any characters, so it only works for SKIP or 0. We don't have any 0 color cards. But we do have a bunch of Skips!

message 216: by Eli (new)

Eli (kongshavn) I’ll read Emma😊 just going through my books now, but can start to read Emma in a few days.

Thank you!

I will do Green 1 then, please Splintered Splintered (Splintered, #1) by A.G. Howard . There is a character named Octobernus. I will add it to the tracking spreadsheet in a bit. Just need to go and wash up (plates, not me!)

Laura | 2892 comments My hand slipped on my mouse and I accidentally deleted my comment.

I have a Green 9 that I can add to my reading for the month. I'll wait and see if anyone else has anything or it before I request it from my library.

Got you down for it

message 225: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments That’s the color cards covered! If anyone has anything they want to read that fits one of the cards I’m down for, just speak up. I jumped on them because the 8s and 5 scared me!

Chelsey Keathley-Jones (keathleyc) | 172 comments Great, for filling those up quick! I'm ready to start another month

message 227: by Chris (new)

Chris | 190 comments Finished The Sisters Brothers. On to Splintered!

message 228: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments That means we’re done for the month!

message 229: by Chris (new)

Chris | 190 comments Alright!!!

message 230: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Everything's all filled in for the month. We are currently at 4th place, but I expect that to change as other teams complete their hands and the mini-challenge. The value of the mini challenge is the same for everyone, but it's obviously the luck of the draw (or of the randomizer) how much our hands are worth. We had a largish number of Draw 2s this month, but a smaller number for March!

This is the first time I am playing UNO on GR and I am very excited about it.

message 239: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Chris, for your book Splintered, I have a quick question. I know we're using it for the Green 1, but that hand has 2 Draw 2s and 2 SKIPs, so I'm hoping we can use your book in another spot, either the 5 or the 9. You indicated it works for 5, Character Ivory Queen. Is Ivory her first name, or is Ivory Queen her title? We can't use titles, only actual names or nicknames, so if it's her title we'll it down for the N based on location.

message 240: by Chris (new)

Chris | 190 comments Well, I think it’s her title. It hasn’t (so far) given her name. To be honest it’s a horrible read so if you need me to change it I can file it under B.

Laura | 2892 comments Chris wrote: "Well, I think it’s her title. It hasn’t (so far) given her name. To be honest it’s a horrible read so if you need me to change it I can file it under B."

Well, we do need the Green 1, but not enough to force you to read something you don't like. We can find something else if you need to stop it.

That's a bummer, though, because the plot summary makes it sound good.

message 242: by Chris (new)

Chris | 190 comments I’ll keep going, I think. I hate binning a book and I only have another 150 pages 😫.

To be honest it is YA and although I do like YA (I loved the Dorothy Must Die series by Danielle Paige) I just don’t like this one. I hate all that boy meets girl garbage so that put me off from the start and it goes all the way through the book so that’ll be fun haha!

message 244: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments Hey Team! Just a quick update, now that we're about a week into the month:

We have no completed hands. BUT, we have filled all our 5s & 7s, and only have 1 8 left. So the hands should start to fill in pretty fast from here on out. And we have quite a few hands that are nearly full already.

We'll probably be getting another mini challenge by the end of this coming weekend!

We have 5 completed color cards, with only 4 more to go!

message 245: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer J. | 561 comments Wonderful!! I've started my second color book and should have it done in a couple days because it is very good so far.

message 246: by Chris (new)

Chris | 190 comments I have finally finished Splintered. Thank the good Lord! I absolutely hated it!

I am not joking, I went to the dentist the other day and enjoyed it more than this trash. It was soooo cheesy I felt like boiling some macaroni and throwing it all over it!

Anyway, I'll have a think about what to read next as a few games of Apex Legends are crying out for me to play them and my brain needs ten minutes rest.

If you need me to do a particular card or colour holler and I'll have a look in my box of tricks... and if any of you say "anything by A.G. Howard is fine", I will not be responsible for my actions! Hahaha.

Toodles for now.

message 247: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer J. | 561 comments I hate when I get a book like that! I've only recently been allowing myself to chuck a book if it becomes too painful. I used to force myself to finish but that defeats the whole purpose of reading to relax. Congratulations on surviving that mess!

message 248: by Chris (new)

Chris | 190 comments Thank you! If it hadn’t been for the team and the challenge it would have gone long ago! Haha.

message 249: by Chris (last edited Mar 09, 2020 06:37PM) (new)

Chris | 190 comments Okay, I'm going to read The Lady of the Rivers by Philippa Gregory. I've marked it all down on the tracking sheet.

Thank you kindly, much love :-)

I saw you gave it 2 stars. How bad would it have to be for you to give it only 1 star?

But, that's one hand completed!
