Are there points at which they could have gotten what they needed without him? Why do you think no one thought to look inside the packaging to make sure Henry was really carrying a full case of water? Why is it so much easier for Alyssa to trust him than it is for her to trust Jacqui or even Kelton?

Lacey (libqueen10) | 29 comments I think there are several reasons why the others allow Henry to travel with them. First, they needed him in order to get the truck and to have his water supply as a back up. Secondly, the group knows that there is strength in numbers so adding another person to their party was beneficial. Nobody thought to look inside the packaging of the water because they knew that he already had lots of supplies and didn't think to doubt him. I believe it's the human instinct to believe that the water is there rather than facing the reality that there may not be. Having that bit of hope helps them to keep pushing forward.

As for why it's easier for Alyssa to trust Henry than for her to trust Jacqui or Kelton, it's mainly because Henry gives her hope. She already thought Kelton was a creepy neighbor before they teamed up together. Then, she had no reason to trust Jacqui in the beginning because of a multitude of things she had done in their first encounters. She doesn't like Kelton or Jacqui's gun handling ways either. Alyssa is willing to do anything to protect her brother Garrett, so if Henry can provide some type of security, she's going to take it.
