From Sunday 22 March at 12.01 am (in your local time zone) you start keeping track of how many pages you read until the 31 March 2020 at 11.59 pm. In the March 2020 Read-a-thon thread you will post your progress, telling everyone what you're reading and how many pages. Then all readers' totals will be tallied throughout the week to reach the goal of 10,000 pages. This is a relaxed read-a-thon; it doesn't matter if you read 20 pages or 100, it also doesn't matter if we reach our goal, it's just having fun doing what you would normally be doing anyway:) Once the March Read-a-thon thread is posted, make sure to put your name on the thread if you would like to be included. If you simply stumble onto the thread, then please, join in!

*An easy way to keep track is using the Currently Reading feature on ŷ, entering your page number at the end of each day. **For those who read by eReader, take the page number which shows for paperback/hardcover here on ŷ for your total. Calculate by percentage to work out your page number read.

***For audio listeners, check out how many pages the book has on ŷ, then divide that number by how many CDs or hours it is to give you an idea of pages per time. Don't forget to post your totals of daily or full weekend tally on the thread.

There is no pressure to take part for the whole time, if you want to stick the original weekend, that's fine. I just thought with people having to stay home, this could give you something to do,

Karin Yes, I'm in, why not? And ideally I will put in all my numbers--I've been remiss the last few times, so busy playing a reading game, and what's more, I've been doing a LOT of reading in 2020!

NOT LISTED BY DAY -- I started the audiobook of The Help on March 23, and am not going to try and figure out the pages by disk, I'll just put the total in the day I finish it. I don't have a print copy here, either, which would make it simpler. Suffice to say that each disk is roughly 1/15 of the book.

March 22 The Pursuit 304 + 44 in The Good, the Bad and the Emus + 123 in The Good Neighbour, etc (re Fred Rogers)
total: 571

March 23 The Good, the Bad, and the Emus 276 + 133 The Jungle Book
total: 409

March 24 The Jungle Book 144 + 125 + 28 + 6
total: 303

March 25 Treasure Island 311
total: 311

March 26: 36 + The Big Kahuna 301
Total: 337

March 27: Little House on the Prairie 335 + 44 + 171
Total: 550

March 28: 165 + 372 +156
Total: 693

March 29: 64 + 220 + 356
TOTAL: 640

GRAND TOTAL 3814

Rift Vegan (riftvegan) | 48 comments Fun! Yay Reading! Thanks for hosting, Alannah!

Sunday 22nd == 36pages
Middlesex This book won the Pulitzer, but I don't like this guy's writing style at all! I'm all nitpicky about the missing details. I'm about 2/3rds in and now I'm starting to *roll my eyes* a lot. The story is okay... can I finish it?!

Mon 23rd == 102pages
Just trying to get it over with!

Tue 24th == 55 pages
And done! Thank goodness. The ending was ridiculous.

Wed 25th == 77pages
The Humane Gardener: Nurturing a Backyard Habitat for Wildlife Preaching to the choir, here, since I already read A New Garden Ethic: Cultivating Defiant Compassion for an Uncertain Future. But Humane Gardener seems more practical, where New Garden Ethic felt more theoretical. Since I'm west of the Rocky Mts, probably few of the native plants mentioned are native here. but still informative and interesting!

Thurs the 26th = 81pages
And as a side note, Humane Gardener is a beautiful book! It's printed on heavy, high quality paper. And there are amazing colour photos on almost every spread! Wow!

Fri 27th = 66pages (done) + 44pages == 110 total
Finished Humane Gardener... I will re-read this book because it has lots of good info that I want to keep in my brain.

And started Jane Against the World: Roe v. Wade and the Fight for Reproductive Rights

Sat 28th == 90pages
There's a lot of sexism wrapped up in the history of birth control and abortion... but there's a lot of racism as well. pretty horrible.

Sun 29th == 54pages
Continuing with Jane Against the World. This is such a great book, straightforward and interesting. Not quite done reading it, but Highly Recommended!

Mon 30th ==

I will add your names to my first post soon but don’t think because I haven’t, you’re not signed up.
