Great idea for a thread Margot. I linked them all (bar the one which isn't in the database yet) so the other readers can check them out!
I for one am thrilled to see Second Life by S.J. Watson coming soon:)
**EDIT: Have just added Goodbye Sweetheart to the database, so your list is complete!

Wrong link for Geraldine Brooks. Should be /author/show...

Margot, would the Geraldine Brooks novel be The Prophet's Daughters? I'm something of a Brooks fan and haven't heard of this one before, so wonder if it is the 2015 release.
I have set myself the challenge of reading at least 52 good poetry books this year. I love minimalism of all kinds, therefore I will go down that track.

That is an interesting challenge Gregory! Enjoy and good luck:)

"...But now thinking more about it, the ONE book I am really looking forward to in 2015 is the book that I had no expectations going into but came out hugging the book and not wanting the characters to fade away. Don't know what that book will be, but I sure can't wait to read it..."
So true!

Oh yes! Let's hope we all find one of those books this year!

Ohh I love that book...... Mine was The Bone Season from last year, you have no idea how many times I picked it up in the bookshop only to put it back on the shelf, then a friend of mine was reading it but never got back to me with her thoughts after asking her several times. I bought it in a huff thinking "bloody hell, let's just do this" and fell in love. January marks the release of the second in the series The Mime Order and frankly, I'm nervous.

Faust
Madame Bovary
The Moonstone
The Beautiful and Damned
Doctor Zhivago
The Woman in White
The Grapes of Wrath
The Name of the Rose
Foucault's Pendulum
Catch-22
The Sound and the Fury
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Good luck with those Sarah:) I've had Doctor Zhivago on my TBR (I own a copy) for years after seeing and loving the movie. I MUST get to it...

The Rosie Effect
More Fool Me
Travelling to Work: Diaries 1988-1998
Diana Gabaldon - re-reading her later ones before I get into the newest one.
Elizabeth Moon - re-reading the paksennarrion books before I get to the newest one.

It was a lot of years ago that I saw it, but yes, it was excellent!

I've heard such great things about The Woman in White, I'm very anxious to read it.

Rita, what you have to do; when you hit "reply" check where the .... ends in the post you're replying to. If it's in the middle of a book link, 9 times out of 10 it will put everything into italics. If you just delete back to a "normal" word, it will stop that:) You can also click on "preview" before you click "post" to see how it looks:)

Some of the books I am actually most looking forward to are also ones that I'm a little apprehensive of - I think I'll like Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, however the size is a little daunting. Same for Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel.
I'm also looking forward to Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day by Winifred Watson because I enjoyed the movie with Frances McDormand, and because my mother was chuckling away while she read it last week!
I'm looking forward to more Fiona McIntosh - Nightingale and Tapestry.
I'm also looking forward to A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman because so many Aussie Readers enjoyed it last year.
I could go on(!), but will stop here :-)

Otherwise I am really keen to get reading all of the Aussie authors for my personal and other challenges.
Oh and Hades and Eden by Candice Fox are on my must read list.

Hey Kathryn, I recently managed to get through Outlander (or Cross Stitch) by buying on kindle and also getting the whisper sync version so I could listen when I was too busy to read. I don't like dragging out long books and knew I wouldn't have the time to just sit and read, I found this helped tremendously. I plan to do the same with the others in the series, this was the first time I had listened to a book and found it not unpleasent in this instance.
I have been buying up the audible add ons via kindle as my mothers eyesight is deteriorating and thought I might surprise her later in the year with an iPod that I can manage for her, so she can listen to books instead of being frustrated trying to read.

What a lovely gift for your mother Dana :)

I generally listen to a book exclusively as an audiobook, or read it exclusively as a paper book (or e-book). I didn't even realise you could get a version that does both!!! Sounds too technical for me, but thanks for making me aware of it, Dana. I certainly wouldn't just listen to [book:Outlander|10964] - I hate to even think how many hours it would be! It will be fine - whenever I decide to read it - it will just be the main book I read (apart from whatever audiobook I'm listening to at the time) - and I might need to renew my library copy!!
And that does sound a lovely gift for your mum - it must be awful if reading is your favourite past-time and then your eyesight starts to go...
(And I don't know why my Outlander link isn't working...!)

It really isn't that complicated as the app does the work for you as soon as you open it, likewise your kindle asks you if you want to sync to the furthest page after you switch from listening to reading. I was very impressed with it. Although I do agree with you, I preferred listening to it once I had started (the narrator was good with the voices lol).
Thanks for the nice words about my planned gift. I am not that close to my mother but she is responsible for my love of reading, we didn't have a lot of money to buy books when I was young so she just let me read all hers! Someone mentioned The Name of the Rose earlier and I remember reading this when I was about 11 or 12 not long after watching the movie crazy really when I think about it....
