Lauren Smith Start: Title starting with K-O The Necromancer by Jonathan L. Howard

Maya travels to the Island of the Sirens on Pandora to learn more about her Siren heritage from an oracle who is said to reside there. When she arrives, her boat crashes, she's knocked out and wakes up on a rock. There are murlocks everywhere, and murlocks and sirens do not get along.

Maya sees three places where the oracle could reside and needs to explore all of them. However, whenever she passes a murlock with one block separating them, she and the murlock have to battle!

Maya swims around the hull and comes up to a rock when a murlock attacks! However, as the murlock swims at Maya, it stops dead and falls into the water. How strange, it must have died from the excitement of impending battle!

High on luck, Maya swims into not 1, but 2 murlocks. The first murlock is in range, so Maya shoots it with her large pistol.

The second murlock looks like he can take a real hit. Maya casts Phaselock and sends him into the 308th dimension! To banish the murlock forever, Maya has to read a book that has a rating of 1 - 3.5 on goodreads with lots of negative reviews How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe by Charles Yu

Maya completes the task and moves on to a nearby dock where she finds a suspiciously unlocked chest, containing three floating lockboxes and one key. She opens the lockbox on the right. An angry jinn emerges, and punishes Maya by commanding her to Read a book that has a Jinn/Genie as a character or where smoke features in the story or on the cover. The Just City by Jo Walton Set on an island with an active volcano that can be seen smoking in the background.

After Maya reads the book, the jinn disappears. Seeing nothing else of interest at the dock, she heads south from the shore until she reaches the entrance to a cave where the oracle may be living. She enters cautiously, but dashes in when she sees no obvious danger. She runs through some spider webs, and a terrifying spider monster emerges! Read a horror/thriller where fear plays a role Harrison Squared by Daryl Gregory

Maya defeats the creature, and continues on through the cave. She passes through a dark patch, but when she emerges something feels wrong - she's gone through a time warp! To escape from it, she has to Read a book that has a word referring to time (month, week, minute etc.) in the title. The Feminine Future: Early Science Fiction by Women Writers

Maya completes her task and everything is set right. She continues, but suddenly vines pop out of the cave wall and grab hold of her feet. She needs to cut both vines to free herself.
1. To cut down the first vine Maya needs to Read a book with an illustrated cover. Two Serpents Rise by Max Gladstone
2. To cut down the second vine Maya needs to Read a Booker Prize Winner. The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes

Maya cuts down the vines, it takes some time but she gets there! Then with a burst of speed she runs forward and makes quite impressive progress... until she gets to spiderwebs.
Read a book with an insect or arachnid on the cover or in the title to get out of this creepy mess. Nineveh by Henrietta Rose-Innes

Maya clears off all the spiderwebs after a massive struggle but finally she pushes through. But not far into her journey she encounters a invisible wall and a panel with 5 buttons. To open the wall she needs to press each button, but to press each button she needs to finish 5 tasks related to the buttons:

1. Read a book that has a title that contains the word 'The' The Cry of the Hangkaka by Anne Woodborne
2. Read a book that has a robot/cyborg as a character
3. Read a book that has a train on the cover
4. Read a book that has a man on the cover
5. Read a book that has a Circus/Carnival/Fair in it

Challenges:
1) For the first adventure, each adventurer has a choice. Read 1 book that falls in one of these categories:

Title starts with: P - T Timeless
This will determine your starting position on the map and your reason for being there.

Hiccup needs all 8 of the King’s lost things (a dragon with no teeth, an arrow from a land that does not exist, Grimbeard's second-best sword, a ticking-thing, a rectangular shield, a throne, a crown, and the Dragon Jewel). However, he collected six of the items (all minus the toothless dragon and the dragon jewel) and they were then stolen by his arch nemesis, Alvin the Treacherous.

Fishlegs his friend, hears through the grapevine that all 6 treasures were hidden on a fishing boat which is setting sail in a few days. Hiccup has a few days to make it to the fishing boat, steal it and set sail for the other 2 items. Dare he continue this journey? If he accepts, please let the GM know when you are ready to roll and I will grab my handy dice!

Hiccup accepts the challenge with vigor and charges downwards!
