If It Bleeds - Stephen King

Thanks so much Mel!

I'm planning on it, too. 😊 BTW... are any of you not receiving notifications here on GR? All of a sudden, as of yesterday, I stopped getting them.🤔 I even double checked my settings to make sure nothing got reset but everything is the same. Glitch???

Definitely glitch. I’m not receiving any as well and I also noticed a few status updates from other friends commenting on it as well.

Agree! Super annoying.

The Body, It, The Institute, etc. always come to mind...."
I completely agree with you Ginger he really excels at the growing up stories (though I still need to read The Institute.) I really enjoyed Mr. Harrigan's Phone too. He did such a good job at making the characters come to life. Fixing to start on The Life of Chuck, I hope the rest is just as good as the first one!

Thank you! 😊 I've been meaning to read it since it first came out but just haven't gotten around to it. I don't know what I've been waiting for as I can't see myself not liking it. Since its fresh in my mind I may try to read it next.

Me too! I'm going to start on the second story tonight.
I really liked "The Institute". It was a good and entertaining supernatural thriller. It could have been a bit more believable in a few spots (not anything to do with the supernatural stuff but more the plot) but I enjoyed it overall!

Yay!! I'm glad you are joining us Andrew and you're liking the first story. It stays good throughout the whole plot. :D

Yay again! I'm glad you were able to find a copy and join Lisa.
Join the rest of us with reading too many books and not having enough time with each one. LOL!!

Me too Andrew! I liked The Institute as well. :D

Absolutely great start and I was excited to see where this went. And then it just felt like SK didn't know where to take the plot and it turned into a hot mess by the end.

Ha!! The woes of reading is right. No worries. I'm sure we are all reading at different paces. I know Andrew and Lisa have just started. Good luck with the 'roids! :D
I think I'm going to finish up If It Bleeds (3rd story) by the weekend just so I can start a BR with Terry on Sunday. I HAVE also bit off more to chew...err read. ;) hahaha!!

I just finished The Life of Chuck and I feel the same way you do about it. It was kind of confusing and all over the place. I get that the story is going backwards but I didn't enjoy it as much as the first story. I'm about to start If It Bleeds which is the one I've been the most excited to read!😁

Thanks!😂 And I feel your pain...😜

Same for me. I'm looking forward to another Holly story!

I see that! Woohoo!
It felt weird not knowing who was commenting or answering on groups. Glad to be back to normal...for now. ;)

If all the novels have the same quality, this collection will be a great reading!

Glad you liked this one Andrew! I agree, it was very creepy and I really liked how it ended by (view spoiler) It was a nice touch!

Nice Scott! Glad you enjoyed that one and I can really see how it would be a great Twilight Zone episode. In fact, it works a bit better for me now that I'm visualizing it in that way. :D

I read few pages, but the beginning is so actual and so disturbing. I have goose bumps reading it! :)

Based on what y'all have said about Life of Chuck, I think I'm going to jump to If It Bleeds, since that's the one I'm most interested in. I need my Holly fix.😉😄 I'll double-back to Life of Chuck after that.

Excellent! I’m about halfway through If It Bleeds and really liking it! Go Holly Go!

And I finally started "If It Bleeds", with Holly Gibney in another incredible hunt for the killer!

Glad you liked it Andrew! I wish I could have gotten something more from the last chapter. I’m not sure what though. 🤷🏼♀️
I loved the beginning of that one though!

I think if you haven’t read the Bill Hodges series, you’ll get more from this story about Holly’s background and friends from that series.
Lisa - I still don’t like the poopy cussing. LOL!
Vickie - Because we’ve read that whole series and The Outsider, I think you’ll really enjoy this (view spoiler)

I just want her to say "shit" for once. ;) hahaha!!
Glad you are liking this one! :D

I really liked Rat as well.
SK can write about writers going (view spoiler) hahaha
Looking forward to seeing how everyone likes each story!

I started the first story, well, many moons before, lol. I really liked it, it was a 4 star story for me. I just picked the book up again (wanted to squeeze in The Outsider before going on) and finished Life of Chuck. Wow, I really enjoyed this story. It's one of my favourite novellas/short stories/whatever by King, I think (N. will always be number 1, though). I liked the structure and how he build the plot backwards and it just felt right for me.
Can't wait to read more about Holly now, live her so much 😄
