Let's celebrate February with reads that are Dystopian and Post Apocalyptic in nature! See how many you can find that are already on your bulging TBR lists - do you also love Young Adult in these genres? Well now's your chance to lower your TBRs of all those Dystopian and Post Apocalyptic books!

Links to help you choose:

Post Apocalyptic
Dystopia & Post Apocalyptic
YA Dystopia
Dystopia

When you have decided on your choices, LINK and post in this thread AND relax and enjoy another good month of reading!

Lynxie | 715 comments Found one on my TBR - I am Forgotten. It's been on my TBR for AGES (since 2013!), so I figure I can give it a bash in Feb :)

message 3: by Sarah (last edited Jan 19, 2015 05:20PM) (new)

Sarah I really want to read Dualed and Divided by Elsie Chapman. These have been on my TBR for a long time. I read Dualed awhile ago and it totally gave me nightmares. I really need to read it AND the sequel so I get some resolution! Besides, the first one as awesome.

Dualed (Dualed, #1) by Elsie Chapman Divided (Dualed, #2) by Elsie Chapman

I'm a dystopia junkie :)

Hmm... It looks like I should add The Sheep Look Up by John Brunner since I'm already reading it next month with a group. And Tomorrow, When the War Began since I need that one for my Aussie Author challenge.

The Sheep Look Up by John Brunner Tomorrow, When the War Began (Tomorrow, #1) by John Marsden

message 4: by Ryan (new)

Ryan Cool idea for a challenge. I have a few such books in my to-read-in-2015 pile. I'll sort them out when I get back to my computer.

vio (veeohhhh) Post Apocalyptic
I've been meaning to get caught up on The Walking Dead comic book series for a while so this is actually the perfect opportunity. I still have The Walking Dead Survivors' Guide and The Walking Dead, Vol. 17: Something to Fear to The Walking Dead, Vol. 22: A New Beginning to read so I'll work on those.

Dystopia
I was planning to read 1984 and Animal Farm soon so again, this is perfect! I also started A Clockwork Orange last year so I'll work on finishing that too.

Edit: Challenge abandoned. I think I set my goal way too high for me to have any chance of reaching it. Maybe next time I do a challenge, I'll give myself a fighting chance.

message 10: by Mell (new)

Mell (mellrouvray) | 332 comments After reading the Hunger Games series, I'm not sure Dystopia/Post Apocalyptic is for me. Think I will skip this month's challenge!

message 11: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 73 comments I'm in - and I have just the book to fit the bill:

The Islands at the End of the World (Islands at the End of the World, #1) by Austin Aslan The Islands at the End of the World by Austin Aslan

Then if I have time I also have:

The Book of Ivy (The Book of Ivy, #1) by Amy Engel The Book of Ivy by Amy Engel

So they should keep me busy

Ryan I've got the following ready to be read:

Annihilation

1984

Snow Crash

The Windup Girl

Wool Omnibus

I doubt I'll be able to read them all in February though. That's only 28 days!!!

message 15: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Good ones Ryan. I really want to read Snow Crash and Wool Omnibus.

I've read the others. Annihilation is really kind of brilliant. And scary. I completely loved it :)

message 18: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9724 comments Snow Crash sounds good Ryan and Phrynne!
Might have to add it to my list (will check out the library)

Sorry Ken, I needed to remove your self-promotion from the post:) If you go to the author spotlight thread you can promote your book there for us all to see:)

/topic/group... - Top right hand corner "new topic" and go from there...good luck!

message 22: by Amber (new)

Amber (ukaunz) I'll probably read This Night So Dark, and This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman if I can get hold of the second one from the library. They're already on my TBR for the Aussie Authors Challenge :-) I'd also like to read Shift by Hugh Howey if I have the time.

message 35: by Odette (new)

Odette (odman) | 1112 comments I plan to read Heaven is a place on Earth by Graham Storrs.
I have had this book on my kindle for a while and seems to fit this challenge. No idea what it will be like.

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Great photo of Pripyat in the main post :P

I'm gonna read Fahrenheit 451.

message 37: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra Page (cassandrapage) The only dystopian on my TBR is Allegiant by Veronica Roth but I've been postponing reading that for aaaaages due to the bad reviews, so I'll make that my book.

I'm only going to read the one dystopian as I want to get some Aussie genre fiction read too, for the main challenge, and I already smashed John Marsden's books in 2013! :)

message 38: by Katie (new)

Katie Mineeff | 59 comments I love YA dystopian fiction! I'm going to read Admission to start with. There'll definitely be more but I could get sucked in to the series if it's good so I'll hold up on writing a complete list for now! Happy reading everyone!

Have you read the Ellie Chronicles Cassandra? I'm wondering if they are as good as the Tomorrow series.

message 40: by Dana (new)

Dana | 144 comments I have quite a few on my TBR list. So here are my choices:
Bounty Hunter
The Last Girl
Angelfall
The Winner's Curse
Wool Omnibus (Silo, #1)
The Hunger Games/Catching Fire/Mockingjay
Insurgent/Allegiant
The Mime Order is due to be released on Kindle at the end of January and I have it pre-ordered so that is also an option.

I obviously won't be reading all of these, I am really looking forwarded to the first two and the last one listed so I will aim for those and go from there.

Happy end days....

message 41: by Regina (new)

Regina Hhhhhhmmmm. I don't actually have any on my TBR.

After looking at lists, I have chosen The Giver

(shall I admit I based my decision based on the cover?)

message 43: by Meg (new)

Meg (megscl) | 302 comments I am so in - dystopia is my favourite genre!
I will do 4:
The Book of Strange New Things
Allegiant
Station Eleven
California

and if people are looking for recommendations, I just read The Age of Miracles and it was fantastic. Also, an Australian author option I read recently is Things We Didn't See Coming
