February Challenge - Dystopian/Post Apocalyptic

I'm a dystopia junkie :)
Hmm... It looks like I should add The Sheep Look Up by John Brunner since I'm already reading it next month with a group. And Tomorrow, When the War Began since I need that one for my Aussie Author challenge.

I'm going to read
Sand by Hugh Howey,
In the End: A Pre-Apocalypse Novel by Edward M. Wolfe and
Cargo by Katie Mineeff

I've been meaning to get caught up on The Walking Dead comic book series for a while so this is actually the perfect opportunity. I still have The Walking Dead Survivors' Guide and The Walking Dead, Vol. 17: Something to Fear to The Walking Dead, Vol. 22: A New Beginning to read so I'll work on those.
Dystopia
I was planning to read 1984 and Animal Farm soon so again, this is perfect! I also started A Clockwork Orange last year so I'll work on finishing that too.
Edit: Challenge abandoned. I think I set my goal way too high for me to have any chance of reaching it. Maybe next time I do a challenge, I'll give myself a fighting chance.

Hugh Howey is usually quite good.

A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller Jr.
The Year of the Flood and MaddAddam by Margaret Atwood
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
The Giver by Lois Lowry

Sarah, I haven't read him before but a lot of our members have nothing but high praise for him:) I'm looking forward to reading it actually!

Then if I have time I also have:

So they should keep me busy

No problems Melissa:)
No problems Melissa:)

Annihilation
1984
Snow Crash
The Windup Girl
Wool Omnibus
I doubt I'll be able to read them all in February though. That's only 28 days!!!

I've read the others. Annihilation is really kind of brilliant. And scary. I completely loved it :)

OMIGOD! I LOVED that book! It was really wonderful and the writing was amazing.
I have read so many from this genre already but I will read Snow Crash and The Dispossessed in February as long as the library will oblige:)

Might have to add it to my list (will check out the library)
I also recommend Ready Player One for anyone interested in virtual worlds and computer games :)

I'm reading Ready Player One in March. I've heard such good things about it.
Sorry Ken, I needed to remove your self-promotion from the post:) If you go to the author spotlight thread you can promote your book there for us all to see:)
/topic/group... - Top right hand corner "new topic" and go from there...good luck!

I've had it for probably 14 months and keep putting it to one side...I'll have to read it eventually though;) I'll be interested in your thoughts:)

Good to know and I hope I enjoy it as much as you did, John :)

No problem. Thanks for letting me know. I will go and check out the link now. Cheers. Ken. :-)

I have had this book on my kindle for a while and seems to fit this challenge. No idea what it will be like.

I'm only going to read the one dystopian as I want to get some Aussie genre fiction read too, for the main challenge, and I already smashed John Marsden's books in 2013! :)

Have you read the Ellie Chronicles Cassandra? I'm wondering if they are as good as the Tomorrow series.

Bounty Hunter
The Last Girl
Angelfall
The Winner's Curse
Wool Omnibus (Silo, #1)
The Hunger Games/Catching Fire/Mockingjay
Insurgent/Allegiant
The Mime Order is due to be released on Kindle at the end of January and I have it pre-ordered so that is also an option.
I obviously won't be reading all of these, I am really looking forwarded to the first two and the last one listed so I will aim for those and go from there.
Happy end days....

After looking at lists, I have chosen The Giver
(shall I admit I based my decision based on the cover?)

I will do 4:
The Book of Strange New Things
Allegiant
Station Eleven
California
and if people are looking for recommendations, I just read The Age of Miracles and it was fantastic. Also, an Australian author option I read recently is Things We Didn't See Coming

I see you gave it five stars Phrynne. Hopefully I like it as much as you did.

The movie was quite good too but not as good as the book.
