So now that we've made it through the US election, this is my next eagerly awaited outcome! I'm not on FB, so keep us in the loop!! :)

Oh did they say that today? I wonder if they're doing the "sneak peeks" again this year ...
They've never told us the date in advance before!!!

They announced it on FB. They did not say anything about sneak peeks so I don't think they're doing that.

I'm glad they posted the Dec. 1st date because it gets frustrating seeing constant questions and complaints about the list being posted for three or four weeks leading up to it. I actually sent Tara a message earlier this year suggesting that setting a date might minimize the grumbling. ;)

I literally was just told in my annual review that I "have the patience of a saint", so I guess we'll be testing that theory for the next 3 weeks! ;)

The only thing I don't like about the Dec. 1st date is that Christmas lists are due on Thanksgiving in my family. So if there are books I want to read for the challenge that aren't at my library, I won't be getting them for Christmas this year.

Though watch, now that I've picked that book, that prompt won't show up next year. Lol.

Boo! I like sneak peeks! :)

Wha--? What? I'm unfamiliar with that sensation! Says the woman who has already posted her 2021 ATY plan and is working to fill it with suggested books... ;)

I liked the sneak peeks too! A huge part of my joy is searching for books to fit a category, and that let me have a few dribblets of joy each day.

I just checked the ATY prompts and there are some great ones in there! I skipped it this year, but might do it again in 2021.

Thank you. I always make up a shorten list of Popsugar prompts to guide my reading in a year. This year I ended up with two prompts:
A book related to one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
A book based on We Didn't Start the Fire
that when I went back to Popsugar, I couldn't find these on the list. I thought I was crazy. They came from ATY.

I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have misidentified (in my mind) the reading challenge from which specific prompts came... :) Glad to know I am not alone in that.

Ooh, another challenge I did years ago had us pick a book about an event or person from We Didn't Start the Fire! That was such a fun prompt, there's so many!! (I went with Elizabeth and Hazel: Two Women of Little Rock for "Little Rock")

I would say if you read that much, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for those books to fill additional challenges. I ended up trying eight challenges this year. I'm at 152 books read for the year, and my notes say 18 more will finish all the challenges (5 will finish the big ones). I found all of the challenges in the summer, and I'm only regretting one of them for getting too specific. (There are not that many adult books with titles that rhyme!) I've found most of the books I read this year count across multiple challenges, or the challenges have similar prompts. That said, I'm probably only trying 2-3 initially next year, and may add 1-2 mid-year depending on how hermity I'm being. (I like that term.)

I'm with Poshpenny, I also like the term "hermity"!

What an exhausting week! My anxiety is through the rafters. Well, I have PTSD, so there’s that.but Life outdoes itself.

Thank you, Lynn!
Anxiety is finally ebbing. I'm so thrilled for Joe and Kamala, and so delighted for all of the firsts that Kamala represents! Can our new FLOTUS also be our new Secretary of Education? Asking for a friend lol.
I think a lot of people feel the same way you do about Shakespeare, Lynn!
I think he appeals to my love of poetry. The rhythm, the rhyme, the slant rhyme, the wordplay - I've been hooked for a long time. Like @Teri, I've been reading a play frequently....Not quite up to Teri"s monthly!
He never disappoints.
Ohhh, I am enjoying savoring every word, every passage :) What a gift!
