I hate to break it to you, Jordan, but it's already November! ;-)

Honestly, I set this up when I was really tired and since the most recent conversation was for our October read, I just went with it. Thanks for pointing it out. Lol

I just started this last night and it was a breath of fresh air, or something. Right from the start I was drawn in. The humor is perfect. Can’t wait to get back to it!
So I needed to know if Len had lied about the kid and everything. It was late, but by the time I got to that part, it was close to being finished, and I just finished it at 12:30 because really, I couldn't put it down!
I especially appreciated the references at the back of the book.
This was a really sweet story, a great romance, and it was interesting knowing already who had killed Maurice, and just finding the evidence to prove it.

I reread this last night, confirming once again Josh's mastery of the short story/novella! I really appreciated how well Maurice is described, not with length, but with Michael's reminiscences and explanations to Len. It made me see his death as a real loss to Michael, to Maurice's niece, and likely to others who knew and cared for him.
I also appreciated that Rubin was written as a real-life villain not very smart or even very interesting, just selfish, hot-tempered, and quick to prevaricate on his actions. And I liked that the crime is solved due to Michael's attention, Len's willingness to trust Michael's instincts, and "good old fashioned police work."

I've been watching so much true crime, it's liable to affect my ability to write mastermind villains. :-D There are so few of them in real life. Real murder is mostly just depressing.

Very atmospheric too. Almost spooky."
Oh good. Yes, I can see that apartment building so clearly...

True crime IS depressing! I mostly steer clear of it if I can. I liked this though, it had a different vibe to it than true crime usually does. I’m sure the romance helped too. :-)
I also liked getting to know Maurice this way. I could picture him in my head even though I’d never met him.

Please feel free to start discussing the book whenever you would like but do be aware that there may be spoilers in this thread.
Happy reading!
