24 Books You Should Read, Based On Your Favorite TV Shows

Lord of the Flies is probably a good match to Lost & a pretty good book even if you didn't like the show!
I have read Macbeth but haven't watched Breaking Bad so no idea whether that is a good match.
While I think Jane Eyre is a great book, it seems a poor choice for Downton Abbey.
I found it amusing that there were several shows which were based on books but those weren't the books with which Buzzfeed paired them! For example, Game of Thrones (clearly from George R.R. Martin's books) was paired with The Name of the Wind.

Just finished the second of the series, but I have to say I didn't like it that much! My son loves them all and every now and then he rereads them - as I do with Jane Austen! - but for my taste they are a bit ... disunited

It started out circa *mumble mumble* as a late-night radio comedy series, quickly took the UK by storm, and then "graduated" *cough cough* to TV. Not too bad an attempt though, and to be honest, we were pretty gobsmacked at the time by the "new" type of graphics, which were feeble in retrospect, pre-dating today's wonderful CGI.
The radio series went on and on, the TV series fizzled out. And there was a dire film too. But the radio scripts are prescient and priceless. I ordered the CD set for Xmas. The young guy on the phone said, quoting the pack, "The best-selling audio CD of all time? That's quite a claim isn't it? Perhaps I should listen to it...!" You can imagine my reply.
Somewhere along the way Douglas Adams got around to writing them all down as novels. Which I am going to read. Honestly. If I can tear myself away from the CDs, that is ;)

I had no idea that it started as a radio series! I can imagine it being wonderful :)
Yes, I think it is even better than in books. As I said somewher, I find the books too "fragmented", if you see what I mean

1) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (I also love Doctor Who)
2) The handmaid's tale (but I don't watch Orange is the new black)
3) Macbeth (I haven't seen Breaking Bad, but I hear good things)
4) Lord of the flies (Never seen Lost)
5) The Cuckoo's Calling (I love Sherlock)
6) Jayne Eyre (I like Downton Abbey)
It occurred to me that if you like Game of thrones then why not read A Song of Ice and Fire, and if you like Sherlock then why not read some Sherlock Holmes?

1)Breaking Bad - the thought of reading Macbeth gives me anxiety.
2) The Vampire Diaries - I'm in a book rut and need to get away from romance books for a bit. Blue Bloods will be on my want to read list though.
3) Once Upon a Time - I'm in a book rut and need to get away from romance books for a bit. Enchanted will be on my want to read list though.

Laura, I really like the depressed robot.
I remember really liking all the books (some more than others). I should reread them again and see if my views have changed.
ETA: I just had a look at that list. I've never watched Dr. Who.....maybe I should?

So yeah you love Game of Thrones, but do you really want to go read everything you've already seen? Think they were just trying to pair them with common theme books not same story??

- The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (but never seen Dr. Who)
- American Gods (but never seen Supernatural...or heard of it)
- Lord of the Flies (never watched Lost)
- Jane Eyre (never watched Downton Abbey)
.....I obviously watch all the wrong TV for my reading preferences. LOL!

Yep, the only two shows I like match up with the only two books I have read so far: The Big Bang Theory; The Rosie Project and Downton Abbey; Jane Eyre. Kinda coincidental! :)
I do intend to read The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy at some point but don't care for the Dr. Who tv series.
