Black Lodge Witch | 24 comments I've read the Bundy book, Bitter Harvest, A Rose for Her Grave, Green River, Running Red, A Fever in the Heart, and A Mortal Danger.

Her collections have been disappointing to me. Can you recommend more worthwhile books/collections by her?

Please and thank you.

There was a huge coincidence in that book for me that still amazes me. I live in Minnesota and the book takes place I think in Washington where Ann Rule lived. Anyway, when I was reading the book I saw a name that was unusual but was familiar. It was Rahma Starret. I remember seeing that name at the time clock in the nursing home where I worked but she worked a different shift on a different floor so I had never met her. I left her a note and asked her if she was the one in the book and she was! I did meet her later on but that was the only time I saw her.

I know. If she didn't have such an unusual name I would have read past it and never thought anything of it. I have come across other names in books of people I know but they are not the same person. We have a common last name. I have seen my brother-in-laws name in books. I think there is a cop somewhere that has the same name.

Francis (sloane_is_dead) | 19 comments I haven't read any of Ann Rule's collections, should I avoid them?

I always see them in hordes at local used bookstores.

I think you see them a lot because a lot of people buy the actual book. She is one of the few authors that I paid full price for her books and had to have them as soon as they came out. Unless I asked Santa Claus for it then I had to wait!

That definitely makes a lot of sense!

With my original comment, I meant that I see more of the collections at the used bookstore, compared to her solo case efforts like Green River, Running Red, The Stranger Beside Me, The Want-Ad Killer, Everything She Ever Wanted, The I-5 Killer, etc., which I assume people love so much that they end up keeping for their collection.

Those are the ones I own and they are great!

Her collections are great too. They are just as good as her solo books. With Ann Rule being a true crime legend you can never go wrong with anything she writes. :)

I think with her collections being around in used bookstores - normally used bookstores get donations from people so it just seems that people read a lot more of the collections considering there are more stories in those books. It is kind of a bargain to buy a book that has more than one story in it so that might be why you see more of them in the used book stores. :)

I would it say that it depends. If you want an in-depth account of a crime get one of the single crime books. If you want not as detailed, but still accurate and informative get the collections.

I've read both and enjoyed both. Unfortunately, Irene destroyed my TC book collection.
