Yalonda (yalondade) | 80 comments Hummus and Homicide (A Kebab Kitchen Mystery, #1) by Tina Kashian CHALLENE COMPLETE: Hummus and Homicide by Tina Kashian was an enjoyable mystery, had wonderful recipes, based around believable & cleverly written family dynamics, and gave some interesting cultural/ethnic insight. There was more "pre-romance" than I anticipated but I am hoping this is because it is important in later stories. Definitely will get to book 2 this summer to see what happens next.

Cecil Huston | 226 comments Reading One Poison Pie (Kitchen Witch Mysteries #1) by Lynn Cahoon by Lynn Cahoon. Wasn't planning on a cozy mystery initially, but so far so good. (Not my usual genre.) Got an early start on my challenge books this month, almost done with the second one already. Leaves time for more books this month, have to catch up on my yearly challenge number!

Katrina (katrinaingram) | 1 comments Reading - Cuban girls guide to tea and tomorrow.
Nearly finished, just a couple of chapters to go and I have not enjoyed it. I don’t think contemporary romance is for me to be fair and I tried it as an audiobook and the narrator has made every English character very posh which doesn’t match the language used. Also being English I found the sweeping generalisations annoying and i’m not keen on the main character. My sister enjoyed it though

Tari (thann) Challenge Complete: Fresh Brewed Murder Emmaline Duncan 4/10/21 Fresh Brewed Murder (A Ground Rules Mystery #1) by Emmeline Duncan

A murder took place in a pod of food carts in Portland, and I liked the camaraderie of the cart owners as the main character worked on finding the killer. The coffee cart pictured is just one of many carts in the fictional area called the Rail Yard. Others did have cafe food or baking going on as seen by the recipes included in the back of the book.

Joosje | 54 comments Nantucket White Christmas (Nantucket Beach Plum Cove, #3) by Pamela M. Kelley I read Nantucked white Christmas. Food features prominently in this book, with plenty of descriptions of what the main characters eat at home or in restaurants, and in this particular book, also Christmas Eve and Christmas day food. It's a feelgood book and I really enjoyed it. It's part of a series about Nantucket but can be read as a standalone. Challenge complete

Natacia (naviles11) | 11 comments I read Delicious! A novel, by Ruth Reichl.
Challenge COMPLETED! I loved this book. I picked it because it had a cafe and food on the cover. I didn’t know what to expect, all I knew was that it fit the criteria for the challenge. I loved that I got a history lesson on WORLD WAR II through food. It was about people connecting with each other on issues of lose and change through their love for food! The book was full of wonderful surprises, for me at least! I’m so glad that these challenges are getting me to step outside of my comfort zone, when it comes to books! I was mainly a thriller kinda of chic 😊!

Simon Barton | 8 comments Challenge completed. The irresistible blueberry bake shop and cafe by Mary Simses. Really not my cup of tea I’m afraid.

Sheila Baillargeon (shereadsandsews) | 19 comments CHALLENGE COMPLETED- 32 Yolks by Eric Rupert.

Bought this book 2 years ago on a road trip through Prescott, AZ at a cute Indie bookstore.
I've become a non-fiction reader in the last 5 years and always appreciate a NF that reads like a story.
While reading the book, the phrase "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger" kept playing in my head...and then I would remind myself, that eventually (years after writing this book) it did.
If you are a foodie, you should read.

Simone (simonec75) I decided to read a book that featured THE LACK of food lol
For April I read this book:
The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah
It was such a sad book. I read it as part of a buddy read and really enjoyed our discussion.
