I need help please! I read a book a few years ago and want to read it again but of course I can’t remember the name of it. I know it was a romance novel, here’s some of the plot. You guys are my last hope!
A literary girl is not having luck finding a husband (Victorian era) so her best friends dad (I’m thinking he was a duke?) marries her to prevent her from being a spinster. There is no romance or anything, just a marriage of the minds.
Well, the husband is now dying and a greedy nephew is set to inherit everything and put her to the streets since there is no child. The husband hires a man to help the wife put the estate in order and catalog collections. Turns out the husband hired the man to have an affair with her so she could have a child and be safe after he died.
Of course, they fell in love.
Any ideas?
