Every week.

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1986 comments Regarding the spreadsheet (captain duties), would an Excel sheet on my Desktop PC work, or must it be one that any team member can access online?

You mentioned that the location must be at least 50% of the setting, what about transportation, will a single mention be enough or must it be either a regular occurence/have a bigger part in the story?

I don't feel that a spreadsheet is necessary because there are only five Completion Posts each week to track, but I have little experience with spreadsheets. You are welcome to use whatever will make the job easier.

The MC needs only to travel by that specific method once in the book.

LaurLa | 3803 comments Transportation - at some point in the book, the main character must travel on an airplane, train, large boat/ship, truck, or subway

Usually subways are trains. If during the 'train' task our MC travels on a public transit train within a city (subway), will that count?

I looked up the definition of 'subway'. It said "a railway system in which electric trains travel through tunnels below ground". So yes, a subway will count as traveling by train.

YAY! I started to check KU for train stories and found a few nice. Now off to library to see if I can find more.

The most famous train book is probably Murder on the Orient Express, right? Second would be a Harry Potter book.

It's the edition you read unless you're listening to an audio book, then it's the first or main edition.

Ummm, sounds good? I have a hard time figuring out the times within my own country, much less for other parts of the world. Can any of our European friends confirm this?

I can try to work on a countdown clock if anyone wants one.

That's a good point. Now I'm wondering if the start time is really all that important. We could change it to 12:01 am and 11:59 pm in whatever time zone each person lives in.

Less stress. Could be my next motto :)

I checked with the and that looks not quite correct.
12:01 a.m. PDT would be 8:01 a.m. BST (or GMT + 1 DST) - it's the time zone for London and
11:59* p.m PDT would be 7:59 p.m. BST (or GMT + 1 DST)

* I suppose you meant 11:59 p.m. as you've written Tuesday night (midnight) and if I got it correctly 12:59 p.m. is middle in the day which would be eleven hours earlier

I love the idea of a countdown clock that would make things easer (at least for the visual people like my)!

Team members will post a Completion Post on their team's thread, and then the Captain will repost or provide a link to all five Completion Posts.

I haven't created the Reporting Thread yet.

Captains can post on team's Completion Post whenever they are ready. Wednesday is fine.

As soon as the last team has posted on the Reporting thread, I'll reveal the task that receives the bonus points.

Can I extrapolate from this conversation that there needs to be specific mention of some kind of plane, simply saying "character A is flying to location B" won't suffice?

Unrelated question: For non-fiction books, can I assume a book about one of the locations required will work as "set there"? (e.g. a history of the French Revolution for "set in France")

I'm hoping that the author will say what type of vehicle the character flies on.

I would prefer a Completion Post for each member. I'll need to see the tasks that each member read for so that I can easily calculate the team points.

Someone who is more than just mentioned. Someone who affects or is affected by the plot of the story.

Time doesn't matter. It could be ancient, medieval, or current times. But the story still needs to be 50% set in that location. Connected to the Greek gods won't work unless the book is set in one of those countries on the list.

So a family member's death that changes the course of a character's life was not what you had in mind or would that work?
How about a recently died person (as in ghost) that's still having an impact on the events?
