The book is about a high school senior, her name is Ashley and she graduates the following day, her mom is nowhere to found and Ashley thinks she has taken off without her. Her boyfriend breaks up with her and her best friends mom hates her. She ends up going to prom with a girl named Jessica and some of the school "alternative kids". She gets her home taken away and ends up living in a trailer home owned by her mom's ex-boyfriend.
