Jericca Farmer (jericca89) | 5 comments Once again I am struck by the lyrical tone of the book! Oh Dorian, you dramatic man. I'm kind of swoony over how dramatically he described his love (such as it is) for Sybil. Do I believe he loves her? Not really. He seems very flighty emotionally. I'm reminded of how JM Barrie described Tinkerbell, only able to feel one emotion at a time but it would be the most intense of version of that emotion. That's how I see Dorian. And poor Henry, so jaded about everything. I'm interested in seeing how this Dorian/Sybil romance plays out.

Yes - his love and descriptions of it were full of passion, but definitely felt as though they were arrived at too quickly to be lasting. Henry's reaction to him as well was so very cynical, much in keeping with his character but the more he does these things, the more I begin to dislike him. Basil, at the end of chapter four, was a heartbreaking figure alone in his cab.
