It's 2022 and for this week we are looking for a book whose title has at least 22 letters in it. Some authors can get pretty wordy in their title choices. Up the ante for yourself and exclude subtitles for an extra layer of challenge.

Here's some fun lists from around the internet:
"Fiction Books with Long Titles:
Books with Super Long Titles:
10 Books with Long Titles: "

Listopia: /list/show/1...

What long titles do you have on your to read pile? What are some of the longest titles you're read?

message 2: by Angie (new)

Angie | 19 comments My frontrunner for this prompt is The Cat Who Could Read Backwards. If I cave and read it before the year is out, I can just read one of the many books in the series. I also have The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accountant, but it works for another prompt (handwriting), so I think I will save it for that.

The Cat Who Could Read Backwards (Cat Who..., #1) by Lilian Jackson Braun The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accountant (Fred, the Vampire Accountant, #1) by Drew Hayes

I've read many books with long titles, but I'm not sure about the absolute longest title I've read. A couple contenders (and recommendations):

If I Die in a Combat Zone, Box Me Up and Ship Me Home
The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires

If I Die in a Combat Zone, Box Me Up and Ship Me Home by Tim O'Brien The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix

Fred the Vampire Accountant is amazing! I read the first two books and need to get back to the series.

For this one I have The Last House on the Street from NetGalley, but I also might do The Most Beautiful Girl in Cuba.

Amy (Other Amy) | 659 comments There are a few books I wanted to read but didn't make it to this year that fit this one:

The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao

Sydney Paige (shpaige19) | 71 comments I think there are a lot of great middle grade options for this prompt! I'm planning on reading Amari and the Night Brothers, but I might also choose On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness by Andrew Peterson.

message 9: by Kathy (new)

Kathy E | 3247 comments My options include:
The School of Essential Ingredients - Erica Bauermeister
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet - Becky Chambers
Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress - Dai Sijie

I'd recommend Ghost Stories of an Antiquary by M.R. James because they're pretty good ghost stories published in 1904 and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, one of John Le Carre's excellent spy novels.

message 10: by Sofia (new)

Sofia Samu | 30 comments Some books that I have read and liked :
Smoke Gets in Your Eyes & Other Lessons from the Crematory by Caitlin Doughty

This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone
Fairytales of the Macabre by Olivie Blake
The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton

Some books on my tbr that I might use for this prompt:
Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead by Emily R. Austin
The Miracles of the Namiya General Store by Keigo Higashino
Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren
The Love Poems of Lord Byron: A Romantic's Passion by Lord Byron

Oh Sofia, I had forgotten about The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender, but it's so good and such an underrated book. Definitely recommend!

message 14: by Marie (new)

Marie | 1049 comments I'll be reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot.

I have so many on my TBR that would qualify for this prompt, just on my plan for 2022 I have Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, A Natural History of Dragons, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, A Most Peculiar Malaysian Murder and What Abigail Did That Summer.

There are so many long titled books that I've read and enjoyed, it makes narrowing them down for recommendations difficult! I'd say the best are The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, My Sister Lives on the Mantelpiece, The Trouble with Goats and Sheep, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine, We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves and my favourite read of 2021 The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.

Donna | 168 comments I read 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World, which has been on my To Be Read List for awhile.

message 23: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Kristick | 874 comments I read The Haunting of Meade Mansion by Skylar Finn. This was a decent paranormal mystery/thriller, but the villains were a bit over the top.

It would also work for #6, image of a source of light on the cover, #14, fewer than 5000 ratings on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ, #15, without a person on the cover, #24, related to inclement weather, #37, uses all five vowels in the title, or #44, gothic elements.

message 24: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 1468 comments I used The Storyteller. Tales of Life and Music by Dave Grohl. Dave Grohl has always amazed me with his life & career. 5 stars

message 27: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Morrison | 478 comments I’m finishing up the audiobook for Random Family: Love, Drugs, Trouble, and Coming of Age in the Bronx by Adrian Nicole LeBlanc and I would 100% recommend. I have so many feelings invested in these individuals at this point.

message 28: by Anna (new)

Anna | 61 comments I read The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and was completely mesmerized by it. I probably wouldn't try it if not ATY, but I'm so happy I did!
This was the first book by Schwab for me and I'm definitely going to check her another works.

message 29: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 1502 comments I listen to the Audiobook of Under the Whispering Door for this prompt. It was really lovely perhaps got a little slow at times but other wise very enjoyable.

message 30: by Starry (new)

Starry | 18 comments I'll recommend The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom. I've already this book before and absolutely loved it but just found out it has a sequel released which also fits this prompt - The Next Person You Meet in Heaven: The sequel to The Five People You Meet in Heaven. So, I'll be reading this one!

message 34: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 758 comments I was surprised to find that I had so many options for this prompt, even with trying to read in order. Ended up with Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead, a totally delightful sequel to a book I loved last year!

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 10952 comments Mod
Like Samantha, I read Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune, with exactly 22 letters in the title! I really loved the ending, even if it was a bit slow in the middle.

message 36: by Kati (new)

Kati I found the perfect book in my TBR list. The Absolutely Positively Worst Man in England, Scotland, and Wales by Anne Stuart.

message 37: by Diane L (new)

message 38: by Misty (new)

Misty | 1398 comments I just finished Rosemary: The Hidden Kennedy Daughter for this prompt. What a fascinating and heartbreaking book.

message 39: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1828 comments I ended up reading Last Summer at the Golden Hotel, I listened to the audio in one day while doing a puzzle yesterday (gotta love days off from work with nothing to do). I could listen to Julia Whelan read the phone book.

My original plan for this was either The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August or The Most Beautiful Girl in Cuba but neither was available on audio and I'm reading something else on Kindle. I do still want to read both of those so need to figure out if I can put them somewhere else, either for ATY or PopSugar.

message 42: by Aimee (new)

Aimee (pebbles320) I'm reading The Lost Future of Pepperharrow, which has 22 letters exactly if you take out 'the' and 'of'. To be honest, I'm finding it a bit of a slog - I don't usually mind slow-paced books but this one just isn't grabbing me.

message 44: by Udari (new)

Udari | 85 comments I wanted a title with exactly 22 letters so I read People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry

message 48: by JessicaMHR (last edited Feb 01, 2022 12:07AM) (new)

The other options:
The Signature of All Things (which I did also read and used elsewhere)
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

message 49: by Anna (new)

Anna (annaik) | 399 comments I read The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks for this prompt, it had more than 22 letters in the title for both the English edition as well as for the Swedish edition which I read.
