Okay everyone.
We're gonna see how this goes. What I'm imagining is that we'll mention a book here, for example The Hunger Games, that we dnfed. The next person in line has to agree or disagree if you should dnf the book based on their own experience. If this turns into a chat or a game, I'll move it to a different folder. I can just imagine a bit of contention going on here, so let's try to make it a debate!

I'll go first: I dnfed A Time to Die by Nadine Brandes. Was this a good decision?

Idk, never heard of it.

I DNF Cinder. It was a good decision. It was horrible, but you can agree-disgree with me.

Ooooh I completely disagree!!! Why would you dnf that??? It's such a sweet book with extremely high stakes and a brand new take on the fairy tale! I love that book!!!!

Carina Shephard (carinashephard) @Denali Why did you DNF A Time to Die (and at what point)? Personally, I really liked that book. The worldbuilding was really interesting to me, and I appreciated that it made me think about what it means to live a purposeful life. Granted, Parvin could be annoying at times, and the beginning started out slow.

I’m also really curious, @Elizabeth, what specifically did you think was horrible about Cinder?

Even though I usually love it when they take Fairy Tales and change hem into something new, I absolutely hated this! They turned Cinderella into a Cyborg and cyborgs creep me out.

Okay, that's fair. I didn't mind her at all and actually loved the premise in general. I think the whole thing with her being a cyborg was really cool, so yeah...
Suffice it to say that YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE DNFED IT butttt that's just my opinion so I'll leave you alone now...

KARA THANK YOU FOR THAT!!!!!!!!!

message 13: by Book - Dragon (new)

Book - Dragon I DNFed Cut Off. I just didn't care about the characters, plus that one girl was creepy as in "hey boy" creepy if you know what I mean.

Eeewwwwwww

I've never even heard of it, but I def agree you were right to dnf.

message 15: by Book - Dragon (new)

Book - Dragon I also DNFed Red Wall. It was just so boring!!! Everyone tells me that it is slow in the beginning, but it picks up. I just don't have the patience to read all the boring parts hoping to get to the good part.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

WHAT!!!!!!!

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

I LOVE REDWALL!!! OKAY OKAY if you didn't like Redwall you should give Urchin of the Riding Stars a shot. It's a series but it's really good. It's a little more....what's it called when the readers are more involved I guess in the story. :D

I was SO tempted to DNF A Time to Die. But I'd heard so much good stuff about it and it is written by one of my writing instructors whose other books I've liked, so I persevered to the end.

I may someday read the rest of the trilogy, but I probably won't.

I honestly think DNFing was probably a good decision, Denali. I certainly wouldn't read it again.

Okay good. Because I've doubted myself since then but didn't want to torture myself...

I started Matched out as an Ebook and finished as an audiobook. I think I was too busy rolling my eyes to continue as an ebook. I loved The Giver by Lois Lowry so I thought I'd enjoy Matched. Nope. It's a straight rip-off from Lowry's world building and I hated it.

what is DNF?

☕️󲹲ԲԲ☕️ I DNF Son by Lois Lowry. It was the third Giver sequel and it just draggedddd. It felt like it would never finish and everyone in the reviews of it agrees with me. I also hated to the other two Giver sequels. .-.
