Lori Keeton | 1447 comments Looking so forward to seeing what I already have on my shelves that will fit these categories. I've bought waaaaaaaay too many used books this year and like a lot of us would like to begin the process of freeing up the shelf space and figuring out which ones will stay and which ones will go.

I recommend The Color Purple by Alice Walker.

Kathleen | 5317 comments Have you read Kristin Lavransdatter, Lori? There are three volumes, so you don't have to read it all in one go. Great historical fiction I think you'd enjoy.

Have you read All the King's Men, the 1947 Pulitzer Prize winner by Robert Penn Warren? It's loosely based on Huey P. Long, the governor of Louisiana. It's definitely character driven.

Thanks Terris! I am very excited to read The Kentuckians. I already have book 2 lined up - Hannah Fowler. I'm glad to know you've read Giles, as she seems quite obscure. And I can't pass up reading a book by an author from and about my native Kentucky!

Yes, everyone uses the same Bingo Board - you can find it here: /topic/show/...

And all books need to be finished by December 31, 2022.

N3 Free Space
Ross Poldark by Winston Graham

This read puts me back on track to read this series as I wanted to do many years ago. The hope is one each month but we'll see how it goes.

my review

05 Book Published between 1900-1949
The Razor's Edge by W. Somerset Maugham

my review

I enjoyed reading my first Maugham although I might not be the philosophical reader his audience would be for this one. It is a book that although written in 1944 can parallel to today's world.

message 39: by Veronique (new)

Veronique | 1154 comments Nice reviews!

Everyone seems to be reading Poldark. I feel I need to join in the madness ;0) Haven’t watched the tv series either.

message 40: by Lori (new)

Lori Keeton | 1447 comments Thanks Veronique!

Oh, if you are a historical fiction fan with a bit of drama and rivalry built in, you'd love it. I can't wait to get to the next book. Ideally I'd like to read one each month, but we shall see how that works out!

message 41: by Lori (new)

Lori Keeton | 1447 comments I've added B1 - Published between 1950-1999 with Demelza by Winston Graham.

my review

And O3 Short Story Collection with Rip Van Winkle, the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Other Stories by Washington Irving which is also on my Buffet Old and New challenge.

my review

These are veering off of my original planning post but it's difficult not to place perfectly fitting reads.

message 43: by Lori (new)
