I recommend The Color Purple by Alice Walker.

-20th century"
Have you read All the King's Men, the 1947 Pulitzer Prize winner by Robert Penn Warren? It's loosely based on Huey P. Long, the governor of Louisiana. It's definitely character driven.
Looking forward to following your progress, Lori. I always love having your thoughts to bounce off of.

An excellent recommendation, Aubrey! It's on my TBR. Thanks. It's definitely on the list!

I haven't read this but I want to! I am always searching for it in used book stores. Definitely a great choice. Thanks Kathleen!

Shirley, I've not read this either. It's definitely on my list and I really appreciate your recommending it. It's got the historical element which you know I love as well!

I think I'll find a place for The Color Purple as well.
I definitely think this is one not to rush.
Lori, I see a lot of coin tossing in your future. I can see no other way you can decide between some of your choices. Good luck.

I know!!! I'm trying to give myself many options but the problem is I want to read them all!! A coin toss sounds like a good idea, Bob!

I have read Janice Holt Giles but not The Kentuckians. I'll be watching for your review. I may have to add that one to my list!

Thanks Terris! I am very excited to read The Kentuckians. I already have book 2 lined up - Hannah Fowler. I'm glad to know you've read Giles, as she seems quite obscure. And I can't pass up reading a book by an author from and about my native Kentucky!

I am new to the group and have a few questions about Bingo. Does everyone use the above definitions for the squares? And, do all books have to be read within 2020? Thanks.

Yes, everyone uses the same Bingo Board - you can find it here: /topic/show/...
And all books need to be finished by December 31, 2022.

Ross Poldark by Winston Graham
This read puts me back on track to read this series as I wanted to do many years ago. The hope is one each month but we'll see how it goes.
my review
05 Book Published between 1900-1949
The Razor's Edge by W. Somerset Maugham
my review
I enjoyed reading my first Maugham although I might not be the philosophical reader his audience would be for this one. It is a book that although written in 1944 can parallel to today's world.

Everyone seems to be reading Poldark. I feel I need to join in the madness ;0) Havenβt watched the tv series either.

Oh, if you are a historical fiction fan with a bit of drama and rivalry built in, you'd love it. I can't wait to get to the next book. Ideally I'd like to read one each month, but we shall see how that works out!

my review
And O3 Short Story Collection with Rip Van Winkle, the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Other Stories by Washington Irving which is also on my Buffet Old and New challenge.
my review
These are veering off of my original planning post but it's difficult not to place perfectly fitting reads.

I'm definitely glad to have read this classic of all classics!

Can you believe three months of the year is just gone??? Great progress on the Bingo challenge, Lori.

I feel it's very slow but have 2 in progress with one to be completed in a day or two. I have been saved by finding places for my unplanned reads but I have enjoyed going off my plans.
