Diana (secondhandrose) | 65 comments I just finished The Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams. I am not a historical fiction fan but I loved this book. I took the advice of a GR review and took my time with the book. Although there were some words (in lexicographer context) that my late mother would not like, I’m sure she would have enjoyed this book. I work at a school and our students are studying this book in an English module called ‘Beyond the Dead White Men.
I rate this as the best Australian fiction I have read this year.
If you’d like to discuss this book I’d be happy to join in here.

Kerri_M | 581 comments Diana, I read this about 2 weeks ago and loved it also.

I had never thought before about the fact that the dead white men have even dictated our language! I am glad they are studying it in school

Lynne Stringer | 280 comments I tried it but gave up. I thought it was a bit slow.

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3540 comments I enjoyed this book, having read it a couple of years ago. I found it good, rather than great, but really appreciated the whole concept of 'lost words' due to curation by (now) dead white men.
