Kenzie | 2838 comments I seem to get a lot of feelings . When I haven't written for a while, I seem to lose steam on my writing. It's harder for me to write, and I end up re-reading my writing five times to understand what I've written. But when I write to often, I'll get an overpowering urge to write. Like now. I feel like I have to write something to keep me normal . It's really hard for me to write when I'm at school. All my work is saved on my computer, so I can't work on it.

I was just wondering if anyone else had the same problem.

I understand completely, Kenzie. Sometimes, if I don't write for like two days, i start to feel really run down and just moopy. But then I'll go write something and feel a lot better. :)

Yeah, I get that feeling too. Once I start writing I can't NOT write. But if I don't write, I kinda lose my steam. But then something will happen and I will feel the desperate need to write.

Kenzie | 2838 comments I'm so glad I'm not alone on this. I thought that it only happened to me. It's like this one character in the books I read, he gets these cloudy thoughts, overpowering urges where he has to do whatever they are telling him. Only mine don't tell me to do different things, they just keep telling me "Go write! Go write! Go write!"

It feels good to know other people have those too. I always have these. If I haven't written anything for a while, I feel kind of empty, and I really need to write ANYTHING.

Yeah. :) I totally know what you mean. I love writing, but sometimes I won't write anything for weeks. I'll take out my laptop, open one file, and read it over and over again and not write a single word. Then a few weeks later, I'll be writing like crazy for hours every day. When I'm not writing, I feel like I should be writing. And when I am writing, I feel like maybe I should stop and give more thought to the story before continuing. It's totally normal. It's just part of being a writer.

Yesterday I felt like writing so I wrote like 10 pages in my journal, and I hardly ever write in my journal.

Xerxes Break(Vivian Ephona) (ephona) All the time. My English teacher assigned us a Writing Notebook (which is a good idea! I put writing snitbits in there constantly). I got really bored and anxious when she took it away to grade it. I wrote in my doodle book. For me, writing is life!

My teacher gave us writing notebooks too! I have written other stuff in it besides prompts and rough drafts though. I have two poems and a short story and the beginning of a memoir that I never finsihed.

Chase (chasesink) I am a writer. The urge to write is strong and it takes one's mind to interesting places.

That happens to me a lot. I suddenly get the idea for the next chapter, and then what I do, I get out of bed (usually it's 2:00 in the morning) and start writing. I wake up dead tired the next morning, but it was worth it. Once, I started writing Ch. 5 for Stairway to the Stars at 2:00 and finished at 4:00.

haha. i'm too lazy to just jump up in the middle of the night and write a chapter, although i do get a lot of ideas when i'm trying 2 sleep. :)

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

i'm consantly writing. its mostly random stuff that have no contribution to society. people tell me all the time that i should become a writer. i laugh like a hyena at my own material, so i just only assume that its good. but seriously, other people laughing at my writing is like sex with Coby Bryant; you can kick, scream, and complain all you want but......its gonna happen!

message 15: by Allie (new)

Allie (pearlrose95) Id b in trouble if i got out of bed...

So would I, Allie. So I sneak it. :D I can't help it...at those times, the chapter has started to write itself in my head, and I NEED to right it down. If I don't, I'll forget it. And I can't sleep if I don't, either. So I quietly get up and open my laptop without turning lights on.

It's weird, whenever I need to write something in the middle of the night, all my tiredness seems to wash away...then, of course, once I finish what I was writing all the tiredness comes back. It's funny.

haha. i know what you mean. a week ago, i got up really really really early to read the end of the fourth percy jackson book, and i didn't feel really tired, but by the end of the day i was completely exhausted. i was watching this movie w/my friends and i was practically falling asleep. i was sooooo tired. remind me never to get up that early again. ugh. lol.

yeah i know! and now we have to wait and wait and wait and wait for the next book to find out what happens. GAH!!! (okay, that was supposed to be an angry, frustrated noise. lol.) but anyway, just wanna say that I LUV PERCY JACKSON!!! YAAAY!!! i was glad that the fourth book wasn't a disappointment *cough maximum ride cough*. can't wait for the fifth one...

I agree, it was not a disappointment at all! BTW, right now I'm reading Twilight and OMG IT IS AMAZINGLY AMAZINGLY AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm head over heels in love with Edward. I'm at the part where Bella and Edward are leaving the meadow/forest the weekend when they were supposed to go to Seattle...that scene was SO romantic, although a little scary too. :D Wow!

I'm not sure if Drew remembers anymore, or has come to this group in a while.

but I think he meant that you really want to write, but you can't because you don't have a pen/paper or computer handy.
