Karen (readerkaren) | 140 comments I finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid , I think it would be a great book club selection. So much to discuss. It's my second book by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

I really enjoyed that book. I've read three or four others of hers but that is probably my favorite.

One down (Lending a Paw) which was not great but a cute easy cozy with likeable characters. In process with Fire and Ice.

I like the Stabenow series quite a bit, Bonnie. I hope you do as well.

Nice, a play! I like to read plays but I don't often see others here who do.

Rhonda | 165 comments I finished Just Show Up The Dance of Walking through Suffering Together by Kara Tippetts and I loved it. If you are being a friend to someone that is going through a hard time (especially an illness, but not limited to) I highly recommend this. If you are currently lucky enough not to be in that situation, it's a great time to read it in case of a future situation.
5 Stars

Thank you, Rhonda -- I know a few people (including myself) who could probably use this!

Tawallah | 81 comments I am going to swap out a different green book for The Warrior by Stephen Aryan

I read Authority (Southern Reach #2) by Jeff VanderMeer which was not as good to me as the first book. This is weird science fiction and having a unreliable narrator makes this quite a mind-bend. Plus I am almost convinced that spy novels are quite hard to do well.

I agree with you on that last, Tawallah. I usually walk away from them feeling that way, and also thankful that I don't do that for a living!

〰️ٳ〰️ (x1f4a0bethx1f4a0) | 447 comments Finished Memoria by Elizabeth Segrave sadly yet another disappointing book this month. I like the art history mystery aspect but poor character development and plot holes made it a very hard to finish. Two sad stars.

Thank you for reminding me I need to complete this series. I’ve only read O Pioneer and that was decades ago.

I loved this one and O'Pioneer but didn't like the 3rd (forget the name.)

Fire and Ice was a pretty good crime/mystery but kind of dated. The sexual tension and sex felt off with what was going on in the story at the time (maybe because it was a woman author writing for a male character.)

Finished people we meet on vacation- it was an OK book, but didn't keep my interest. I think it was meant for women in their twenties mostly plus it was really long for a romantic comedy.

That's the second lukewarm reception to Emily Henry I've seen this week. I'll give People a try, but we'll see.

Finally catching up on a few of my past picks I didn't get to. I finished The Last House on the Street by Diane Chamberlain - 5 strong stars and The Neighbor's Secret by L. Alison Heller - 3 stars.
