I've just finished The Hollow of Fear by Sherry Thomas, the third of her Lady Sherlock series. If you enjoy Sherlock Holmes and mysteries with a smidge of romance, you'd like this series!
I just picked up Cage of Souls from the library and will start that next. I already own The Forgotten Beasts of Eld and A Wizard of Earthsea and will probably re-read them for the group discussions when I'm done with the Tchaikovsky.

Shel, I'm happy to hear that the Lady Sherlock series is good. My IRL book club is slated to read the first one next month!

Next on my list is Babel, Or the Necessity of Violence: An Arcane History of the Oxford Translators Revolution

So far I'm really enjoying it.
LaTrica, we read the whole Deverry series as a group some time back - all the old discussions are still in our series archive folder if you want to take a look! I really enjoyed the series!
Thank you to my fellow mods for keeping all the discussions going while I was offline and on vacation!
I read Renegade's Magic by Robin Hobb, 7/10. Her whole Soldier Son trilogy is kind of dark and dreary, without the variety of characters, settings, and “moods (for lack of a better term) of her Realm if the Elderlings series. Still, I’m glad I read this—it was certainly well-written and quite different from most fantasies.
I also read The Ghostway by Tony Hillerman, 8/10. A good mystery.

I read the Soldier Son trilogy some time ago, and I definitely agree with "dreary". It's such a switch from the wonderful Realm of the Elderlings!
I just finished Cage of Souls. I have both The Forgotten Beasts of Eld and A Wizard of Earthsea handy for this month's other group reads, but first I'm going to read A Mirror Mended, since my library loan just came in and it's short.

The One Tree
White Gold Wielder
I enjoyed these more that the original trilogy. Yes, this was a reread
Plan on reading the new series this winter
Across the Sea of Suns
Great Sky River
Tides of Light
This is also a reread. The authors prose grew better as the series went on. The series so far is ok.
Babylon's Ashes
This was good, and this is where the TV series ended
I need to read the last three books soon
Moonraker
Diamonds Are Forever
From Russia, With Love
Dr. No
These are, enjoyable. They are dated in some respects
In Conquest Born
I liked this, but it felt like a bunch of novellas put togather
All of the Marvels: A Journey to the Ends of the Biggest Story Ever Told
I enjoyed this, the author read most of the Marvel catalog from the 60s to today and looked at the stories as a whole
The Mongoliad: Book Two
I enjoyed this one to. More of a what if during the crusades and the Mongol invasions.
Script Doctor: The Inside Story of Doctor Who 1986-89
A bit of a look at Doctor Who during the final three series of the original run.
The Coming of the Horseclans
Swords of the Horseclans
These are very dated, some of the content is a bit "unwoke" I read these as a teen and am trying to reread the series.
All Clear
I really liked book one, this one not so much. They author kept going back to the same point through the whole thing but all in all good read
The Spy in Moscow Station: A Counterspy's Hunt for a Deadly Cold War Threat
I could not finish this one unfortunately. I was expecting something else and I could not see where he was going with it
Moneyball
For baseball fans and baseball stat fans this is a great book.
The Mortal Tally
God's Last Breath
These were pretty good. I will warn you though the author left this open for more stories, but they are not written yet
It does not end on a cliffhanger but it is sort of one
Tales of Times Square: Expanded Edition
If you want to read about New Yorks times square when it was the seedy hookers, porn etc this is the one for you
I enjoyed it. I heard about this while watching a series called the Deuce.
Goldfinger
I am reading this one as we speak.
A Mirror Mended was a quick read - fun, but I didn't like it quite as much as the first one.
I finished my re-read of The Forgotten Beasts of Eld last night and will post to the spoiler thread soon!

One that I got was Nona the Ninth which I have been looking forward to. I plan on starting it once the move at work has finished. Movers show up bright and early Friday morning. Which means I have just tomorrow to finish packing the entire office that up until the pandemic was full of massive pack rats who hold on to everything EXCEPT for power supplies. Serious, I have tables full of equipment worth thousands of dollars a piece with no power supplies.
I am worn out and my body really hates me right now. I may not move this weekend.
Random wrote: "So Audible is having a big sale on audiobooks (2 days left if anyone is interested) and my husband and myself went a little mad. We grabbed a bunch of books at around 5-9 dollars a piece.
One that..."
Hope your move goes as smoothly as possible!

Started Thunderball
It is good, so far. Unfortunately there were some background stuff in regards to the novel. This was the only Bond that they did not have all the rights to because it started out as a screenplay and Fleming adapted it for this novel leaving the two screenwriters out in the cold
Finished an out of genre book this morning, The Poisoner's Handbook: Murder and the Birth of Forensic Medicine in Jazz Age New York - it was absolutely fascinating. I want to look up more of her books now!
I'm starting The Survivors next, a mystery, and then I just picked up Upgrade from the library for next month's discussion. I've still not been able to find my copy of A Wizard of Earthsea, but I've read it several times and I remember it well enough to jump in to book two next month if it doesn't turn up!

I am slowly making my way through Cage of Souls for our group read and have decided to reread the Earthsea Cycle with the group, so A Wizard of Earthsea will be up next.

Everything is here in the new office, however most of it still needs to be unpacked. And I have realized. My job title is "she who has to do everything no one else wants to do" which includes unpacking the office and setting everything up so that no one else has to think about it. Argh, a subject I could rant for hours on, so I won't. :D
Nona the ninth and Cage of Souls have been delayed. My brain is just too fried.
I was discussing TAZ with a coworker and it sounds like their Ethersea story line just finished and they have something new about to start It made me really crave listening to the Balance arc again. It is so good and I'm more than half way through The Stolen Century story line so I'm just going to plow through til the end.
Guessing next week I'll start The Tombs of Atuan to make sure I'm not late and then I'll pickup on the rest.
The Survivors was un-put-downable - if you like mysteries, this is a good one.
I was going to start Upgrade next, but didn't have the brainpower. I may re-read a few old favorites before starting it.
