Ava | 1 comments what do you think of the ending of the trilogy? do you think it could’ve been better? do you like it the way it is? Lmk

legendofthe3divas | 88 comments I thought it was good. I don't remember much about what happened but I'm going to reread Siege and Storm before s2 of Shadow and Bone comes out

Megan Cheang | 83 comments The ending of Ruin and Rising killed my interest in SoC and KoS. How could i be happy reading about a world when i knew that Alina lost her powers? After denying it for so long, she finally embraces it and only gets to use it for like a year. It particularly stings in the last book.
I was never a Malina fan. I’d rather she end up with either Darkling or Nikolai, or better yet Alexei. I loved Alexei.
I can handle Malina being endgame but my real problem is the loss of her power. If i could change the ending, i’d rather she keep her power

ash (ashleylibrera) | 5 comments I absolutely hate the fact that she lost her powers. I liked that Mal had to sacrifice himself and I liked the ending with the Darkling but I’ll never understand why she had to lose her powers and essentially her entire identity. Having her lose her powers was unnecessary and Leigh didn’t have to do all that 😭

Sarah | 19 comments Alina should not have ended with Mal the emotional abuser. Following the emotional abuser’s dream and being isolated from her actual friends.
The abuser should not have been resurrected by Tolya and Tamar.
She should have kept her powers. She could fake her death if she wanted to, but her losing her powers makes no sense now that RoW ending happened.

Hannah Morton | 1 comments I don’t think she should’ve lost her ability as the sun summoner because it kind of ruins the whole purpose of her struggles and overcomings in the last 3books, and tbh I shipped her more with Nikolai or even the darkling, cause I do love mal and their past together but I feel they aren’t the best match and he isn’t the best guy. Overall disappointed as I just finished the 3rd book today and after reading the whole series it was a letdown, but the series as a whole is still amazing tho so ig it’s ok😭😂

The ending is even worse when you find out the ending to Rule of Wolves (the last book in the Grishaverse so far) which made Alina’s sacrifice pointless.

mar | 11 comments i hated it tbh. i was so mad that alina lost her powers and then faked her death and ended up with mal 🤮. maybe it’s the dark romance lover in me but i wanted to her to end up with the darkling. i literally cried when the darkling died, even though he was toxic i still love him.

You're not the only one. I also cried. Whenever I read R&R, I cried when he died.

Seba | 1 comments I wanted mal to remain dead and wished alina's power to stay (it doesn't have to be stronger just the same with the other sun summoners that came because of morozova's amplifier ) then they will destroy the fold and she will cut her looses and rule with nikolai.
that's it.

Mal should have actually died & stayed dead so that the sacrifice part was real

Chris | 11 comments A Shakespearean tragedy with everyone gone at the end. No sun summoner, no shadow summoner, and most importantly no nonsense ressurection of blade. Making alina end in the same place she started was a regression of her character. Shes back to being bullied, disrespected, and looked down on by everyone including her workers while Mal gets accepted and gets his wish of being a commoner.

Nova Ward | 4 comments Darkling should have survived. He was the best character in that series. And mal should have died.

Connie | 13 comments Nova wrote: "Darkling should have survived. He was the best character in that series. And mal should have died." resurrecting Mal was a mistake, took away any high stakes and he’s still terrible fit for Alina. He ends up being the one to actually rip away alina from her community and friends to live out his dream of domestic housewife alina in the place she was and continues to be bullied by the village and her own staff. Leigh bardugo accidentally writting the ending where the girl stays with the emotionally abusive man who love bombs the victim they fall for it. Terrible ending, and too close to irl relationships (not even fantasy)

faith𝜗𝜚 (faithjohnson) | 9 comments unpopular opinion: i liked the ending. im a sucker for a sweet, domestic ending and that’s exactly what we got. yes, it was kinda dumb that alina lost her powers and mal has the personality of a dead plant but all her love interests wouldn’t have been better with her imo (i hate the darkling and nikolai and zoya are amazing).

Except it’s not a happy ending.she is literally disrespected and bullied by the townspeople and her own staff. It’s a bad ending

Connie | 13 comments And the only “healthy option was for Alina to end up alone.

faith𝜗𝜚 (faithjohnson) | 9 comments yeah that’s kind of a valid point i totally think it was stupid she lost her powers. the entire trilogy for what?? 😭😭
