If your fan is in the US and you are in Germany, you're good. But there is a good reason that many authors will opt for a PO Box. You would still have the same city/town, but the PO Box keeps them from having your address. The problem is how that is an added expense.
It's a fan and unless they live in your city/town, I'm guessing they aren't likely to come looking for you. Now you're making me wonder if you write horror or murder mysteries and need to be afraid because you based your book on a real case. I don't see a problem with you putting your address on it. I've gotten things from other authors and reasonably famous people with their address on the envelope or package. Again, the chances of anyone coming to look for you are slim. (I got a package with a signed book from Diana Love. It had her address on it. I'm not about to become a stalker. I'd be a normal fan. The crazies are rare.)

Awhile ago, somebody was interested on an official art sales site to buy my painting if I would put up a photo of the signature in the back.

Hi Katja! It takes a lot more than a signature to pull off identity theft, so I wouldn't worry there. But giving out your actual address would give me pause. A PO box is good advice. Also, if you send out email newsletter, in order to comply with laws you need to have an actual address at the bottom of the newsletter. Which is another reason to get a PO Box.

You could Hayden. BUT. If someone tried to contact you at that fake address it wouldn't take much to determine you had broken the law. This would expose you to a fine for every single fraudulent email you sent out. The damage could add up very quickly.

I got an email about somebody from the States had read my graphic short novel, were a fan and wanted my authograph...
Of course, my legal autograph and artist autograph are different, but German post office always want their sender's address on the letter.
So, anybody else got this? Is this a Thing now?
I mean, my fan base is like two people...
Thanks!
