She was sitting under the bed.

There are so many different stories I could start with that sentence. For example, I could tell you that I was playing hide and seek with my best friend, Sarah. She always chose to hide underneath something, table, chair, bed, whathaveyou. I was going to win again, because she didn't have much of an imagination.
Maybe it's actually a china doll I got when I was four. By now, it was cracked and falling fast apart. I'd shoved it under the bed because it's eyes were giving me nightmares, large and empty.
Or I could reveal that it's my white cat that's under the mattress. Her name was Lady Anne, and she liked to swat at my ankles as I walked past.
Perhaps the "she" is really just me. I'm scared, I'm hiding because my sister has lost her marbles. She already cut my arm with the knife from our kitchen, after she woke me up by staring at me with her big blue eyes. Large and empty. I asked her, "What are you doing?" and she just smiled a little bit, like she was happy about something but didn't want to share it. So I turned back around and closed my eyes. That's when I felt the tearing slash on my arm, hot, and screamed. I heard her laugh, and that scared me enough to run. Out of the door I went, down the hall, up the steps. I saw something white on the floor, but couldn't tell what is was. Finally, mum and da's room. They would make her stop. But, wait, had my sister actually followed me here? I couldn't be sure. "Mommy, mommy," I ran to her side of the bed, clutching my hurt arm, almost crying. "Mom?" but that's when I noticed a slash on her neck that matched the one I had. The white pillows, turned black in the red and night. I didn't even look at daddy, I was too scared, and definitely crying by then. Sister was nowhere to be seen. I had to hide. But not right here, isn't this where she expected me to be? So there, I crouched down and listened for her, for anything. Nothing. Just get back to the bedroom, I told myself. I could always run faster than her anyways. So I ran, barely registering things I sped past. Picture frames, broken glass, more red, Anne lying still, a footprint, my green nightlight because of the nightmares, big and empty. I could hide in the closet, but then I couldn't see her coming. I would just hide under the bed, and she would have to bend over to hurt me, and by then I could run away again. So I sat under the bed, stopped crying, and waited.

But that would be a lie. All of them were dead, gone and broken. Sarah, my sister's stupid doll, that ugly excuse of a feline that I was sick of kicking away. My sister. Sarah was easy to get rid of, all I had to do was hit her head on the wall; she's in a dumpster behind the school now, along with the doll. Garbage, both of them. Anne, threw her off of the banister. She landed not too far away from our bedroom door. Then mum and dad, all of this was their fault. Why did they have to keep my sister after I was born? An adorable second child is all anyone ever needs. I cut them while they slept, daddy first just in case he woke up. He would be too strong for me to fight. But mom would be easier, even if she woke up. She didn't, though, when I opened her neck. I stabbed the baby in her belly for good measure; it might be big enough for them to save. Parasite. Then I waited for sister in our room. She didn't know a thing. So I scared her, gave her a little scratch. I laughed as she ran away, she thought I followed her. I laughed again as she screamed from upstairs, then heard her coming back to the room. I hid under the blanket and she dove under the bed. I wanted to laugh again, but instead I moved, just barely, and called out her name.
"Jacklyn, dear"

O.O

Perfection.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Really? :3 I'm worried that it won't be good enough because Jacklyn isn't the main character. I think that's what everybody else is going for.

Ye?

Hum.

I'm going to read the other entries.

Oh, yeah. I was about to say that there's only one other - and it's not even finished.
I read through that whole conversation with Zaynah, and boy do I feel like crap.
If I ever said it's a truce, I take that back. Some of you will never be in my good book again.
Grudges are a wonderful thing, yeah?
