Shatter me would fit love triangle
Guest list is set on an island if you’re doing Nadine’s challenge

Ohhh... curious! I can't wait to read it!

Ancillary Sword
Ancillary Mercy
Any places those could fit in?
Ty!

No! this is terrible, I just went through the list and not a single category works for these EXCEPT for the "personal" categories that are specific to you and not really about the book, like: meant to read in 2022, your best friend would like, recommended by a friend, bought second-hand, bought at an independent bookstore ... we have past categories that would work (nonhuman characters, Ancillary Mercy won the Hugo, set in the future, science fiction, etc)
Ancillary Justice got its start during NaNoWriMo, and it won the Hugo (past category), but that doesn't help you since you're not asking about that book!

Thank you so much for checking! I couldn't find a good fit and appreciate another look. I'm very much enjoying the series, even if they don't fit the challenge, they're absolutely worth the read :)

They really are!!! I had a hard time with the first book but once I figured out what was what, I LOVED this series! It was mind-blowing. Be sure to read Provenance also - it's the same Radch world, different characters, and a much lighter tone, it's a heist novel. I think she's got a new book coming soon in the same world, I can't wait.
It's a sign of a poorly crafted reading challenge when NOT ONE category works for a stellar series like this!!!

Wow I think the GR blurb for that book gives away too much!! I went to check it first to see what I could say about the plot here.
Anyway ... it's about a guy who marries one woman then leaves her for another woman, so it would fit quite well in "forbidden romance" (because his second relationship is forbidden) and "divorce" (I'm pretty sure when the book starts, Evelyn has just gotten divorced from the cheating husband). There are some flashbacks in the book to Evelyn's rocky relationship with her parents, so you could also squeeze it into "about a family" if you wanted, but I think that's not as good a fit.
Now that I think about it, this book is a great choice for "forbidden romance" for readers who don't want to read a romance.

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
[book:A Mother..."
The Anthropecene Reviewed is one I am using as a BookTok recommendation.

I started read The Poisonwood Bible at my MIL house over NYE because I left my book at home. I think this will fit prompt 31 - a Book about a family, but I am curious if anyone thinks it will fit another prompt as well. I like to have options incase I find another book I want to read in a prompt category so I can move it around.

I have a few book I would like to read, but cannot find a prompt.
(Wanted to read in 2022, best friend would like, etc are already used)
Sharp Objects
[book:Brave New World|..."
Sharp Objects fits no. 31. About a Family

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
I have Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow on my list under both no. 27. BookTok, and no. 50. Alliteration in Title.

Great expectations - Dickens
Middlemarch - Eliot
The road - McCarty
ճ

You could look at the general prompts, like 'book your friend would like, 'book you bought second-hand/at an independent bookstore'.

There are lots of songs which mention "the road" in the lyrics. If you're not fussy about editions, you should be able to find covers of these that only have text on them too.

It would also fit prompt 34 - a historical fiction book.

Straight No Chaser has a great mashup of “On the Road Again/I Play the Road.
I used it for the 2019 challenge for the prompt “a book with no chapters. Others have used it for past prompts of “CliFi or “dystopian.

Great expectations - Dickens
Middlemarch - Eliot"
Both work for a last year’s prompt of a “Victorian novel. For this year, I believe Middlemarch works for the “family prompt. You could probably apply Great Expectations to that one as well, since the novel opens with Pip living with his sister and BIL. I believe that would also fit “forbidden romance, I’m not sure about Middlemarch as I have not yet read it.
They are also both pretty lengthy are they the longest on your TBR? Many people also read one or the other in high school (I read GE in both high school and college). Did you buy them from an Indy bookshop? Would a friend like them?
Middlemarch also works for the past prompt of a one-word title.

I'm reading Version Zero by David Yoon. Any suggestions which prompt it can fit? It might fit in debut since it is his first adult novel. There might be other prompts it can fit in, suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

TIA, I know it's a lot 😬
Super-Infinite: The Transformations of John Donne
The Elegance of the Hedgehog
Exhalation
The Shadow of the Wind
Straight Man: A Novel
Killing Commendatore

The Words We Keep"
My suggestion would be to keep it aside for a little while. Given the 2022 publication date and the mental health subject matter, it might appear on ALA's challenged books list (the complete one) in September. It only takes one to appear on that list.

Okay here we go
Killing Commendatore. This might kind of fit a book that's on a celebrity book-club list. It's not a book-club and it's more just a series of what I'm reading by a celebrity. K-Pop group BTS do recs frequently, this was one of them.
The Shadow of the Wind. This is an easy one a historical-fiction book.
The Elegance of the Hedgehog. I've never read it. But is it possible that it has two languages? If not look at some of the personal prompts.
The other three I can't fit anywhere. Try personal prompts. Sorry I've done what I can

Most of the prompts I can see for this are imperfect. Nothing quite seems right. I'd be surprised if it never showed up on #Booktok (that is not my scene). Both Yoon's are popular authors people would comment on his first adult book because it is his first adult read. Other than that look at the personal prompts.

Not Now, Not Ever: Ten years on from the misogyny speech

The most obvious is a book where the main character's name is in the title.

These are great and I'm facepalming over the historical fiction one. My book club is reading some literary stuff this year and I just didn't know what to do. Thank you so much!

Some editions of Exhalation only have text on the cover.

Not Now, Not Ever: Ten years on from the misogyny speech"
I would count that as a text only cover, and if you drop the subtitle, you should be able to find "not now not ever" in a song lyric. Not now not could work for alliteration in the title too.

Booktok
Character name in title
Divorce
Queer lead
Historical fiction (1950s Hollywood)
Set in Hollywood
Author +7 books

Oh Ellie I'm kicking myself that I didn't think of this. Just text on the cover is the perfect use for it.

This is a common comment about this. But I've been looking at it as the title instantly draws your eye. The constellation is almost a secondary thing. To each their own, some people will be sticklers for the prompt others will use it as inspiration. (I also think this is one of the harder prompts)

I aded the Gallant to the BookTok category. And also under, the book I wanted to read in 2022.

Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

It could also work for a forbidden romance.

Unless you can make it fit one of the personal to you prompts (did you mean to read it last year perhaps?) then it's only past prompts that would work, eg. non-fiction, plant on title/cover, published in 2021.

Have any school districts or parents groups in the US tried to challenge or ban it from schools or public libraries?

Thank you!

There are some songs with "sea of tranquility" in the lyrics (you can find them using lyrics.com). And if you're happy to use this group as a stand-in for a friend, loads of us recommend both books:

They are both DEFINITELY mentioned on BookTok.
Sea of Tranquility was recommended by Barack Obama (surely he counts as a celebrity!)
